The Minnesota Vikings (1-0) and Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) will try to remain undefeated to open the 2022 season in a Monday Night Football affair.
The Vikings upset the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. Minnesota’s offense performed well, while the defense held their own against Aaron Rodgers and Co. They will search for similar results in this contest with Philadelphia.
The Eagles narrowly escaped with a 38-35 win over the Lions in Detroit. It was unquestionably closer than they would have expected, but Philadelphia will surely take the victory. The Eagles will aim to advance to 2-0 in their 2022 home opener.

The Eagles are the home favorites in this affair. The odds project this game to ultimately be competitive. Philadelphia certainly is not a heavy favorite.
The Eagles home field advantage will go a long way in helping them win if they are able to pull out the victory. But Minnesota looked better in Week 1. Philadelphia’s defense will need to be better against Minnesota if they want to move to 2-0.
- The Minnesota Vikings are 1-0 against the spread this season.
- The Philadelphia Eagles are 0-1 against the spread this year.
- The Vikings were 5-4 against the spread when playing on the road last season.
- The Eagles were 3-4-1 against the spread when playing at their home field last year.
- Minnesota was 5-3 against the spread as an underdog last year.
- Philadelphia was 4-3-1 against the spread as a favorite last year.
- The Eagles were 2-0-1 against the spread when playing as a home favorite last year.
- The Vikings were 3-2 against the spread when playing as a road underdog last season.
The Eagles won their first game but failed to cover the spread. Philadelphia will need to earn a more convincing win in order to start covering the spread on a more consistent basis.
Meanwhile, the Vikings covered their spread and then some in their Week 1 victory.
Both of these teams were rather mediocre ATS in 2021. Neither stood out in any particular manner. However, the Eagles and Vikings expect to see more impressive results all-around in 2022.
And their improvement should directly correlate with their ATS success.
Betting on Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings come into this game with lofty aspirations. They are running high following last week’s win and should find themselves in a good position for an upset.
Some sportsbooks favored Minnesota last week, while others favored the Packers. But Minnesota took full control in their 23-7 win.
Kirk Cousins tallied 277 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns in the victory. The Vikings QB went 23-32 and finished with a quarterback rating of 118.9. Cousins tends to be undervalued and is someone Minnesota fully believes in.
Running back Dalvin Cook recorded 90 rushing yards on 20 rushes. He failed to score a TD but produced productive results nonetheless. Meanwhile, backup running back Alexander Mattison added 36 rushing yards to cap off a quality rushing day for Minnesota.
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson had a monster game. He finished with nine catches for a whopping 184 receiving yards. Cousins caught two touchdowns and reminded everyone how talented he truly is.
The Vikings’ defense limited a potent Packers offense to seven points. They sacked Aaron Rodgers four times in the game.
Minnesota has to be happy with their 1-0 record to start the season. However, improving to 2-0 will not be easy in Philadelphia on Monday night.
Betting on Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles entered last week expecting to win despite playing on the road. But the Lions gave them all they could handle.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts endured an up-and-down performance. He went just 18-32 with no touchdowns. But he did post 243 passing yards while throwing no interceptions. Hurts had some good moments despite the all-around underwhelming effort.
But he stepped things up in the ground game. Hurts finished with 90 rushing yards on a team-leading 17 rushes. Hurts also scored a rushing touchdown.
Miles Sanders recorded 96 yards and a touchdown on 13 rushes out of the Eagles backfield. Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott both scored touchdowns as well for Philadelphia.
There is no question that the rushing attack set the tone on offense in this shootout affair.
However, A.J. Brown was able to reel in 10 receptions for 155 yards. The wide receiver stood out despite the Eagles’ struggles through the air.
The defense had no answer for Lions running back D’Andre Swift. They were able to pick QB Jared Goff off once, but the Eagles were fortunate to win this game even though they surrendered 35 points.
Philadelphia won’t win many games moving forward if their defense plays like it did a week ago. They will need to step things up against a more talented Vikings offensive team.
