Giants vs. Athletics Betting Preview
The Giants will finish up their weekend series in Oakland against the Athletics. The first pitch for this game is scheduled for 4:07 pm eastern.
Both teams are having really nice seasons so far. The Giants are currently winning the Nationals League West. The Athletics are just a couple of games out from Houston in the American League West but are currently in a wild card position.
The Giants are doing things not many people saw coming. They were not predicted to be anywhere near the top of the NL West standings. They are currently top 10 in almost all the important team stats.
Oakland has done things a little differently. They have not been the greatest offensive team in baseball by any means, but they have been able to pitch it very well. While they do not have a single standout pitcher, they have found a way to get the job done.

Giants Look to Build a Little Momentum
After a tough loss on Saturday, the Giants had lost back-to-back games, which is not what you want to do when you are fighting to hold onto a top spot in a division. They were able to get the job done Saturday with some late-game heroics to get them back in the win column. Lamonte Wade Jr. was able to hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning to give the Giants the lead.
Brandon Crawford also stayed good with another two for four nights at the plate last night. He currently leads the Giants in most statistical categories. He has the most home runs (19), the highest batting average (.302), and the most RBI’s (70). While Crawford has always been a great defensive player, this offensive outpouring has been huge for the Giants’ success.
Oakland Looks to Win the Series
Winning today’s game would give the Athletics a series win, something they have not had in their last couple of series. They went 1-3 against the White Sox and 1-2 against the Rangers. For a team that is trying to fight and claw their way into the playoffs, they have to find ways to win the series.
Leading the way for the Athletics offense is their first baseman, Matt Olson. A guy who has always kind of had an all-or-nothing approach at the plate, Olson has been able to lead the offense this season. He is hitting the ball all over the park, hitting .276, but he has also kept his power numbers up, blasting 31 home runs and 81 RBI’s.|
Pitching Matchup
The Giants will send Logan Webb to the mound today. So far this season, he is 7-3 with a 2.92 ERA. He has a 1.14 WHIP and a 3:1 strikeout to walk ratio.
Frankie Montas will be on the bump for the Athletics. He has a 9-9 record with a 4.04 ERA. Winning three out of his last four, the Athletics are hoping Montas can keep up with the rest of the starters.
Giants Win
The lineup for the Giants is potent. Top to bottom, they just seem to be playing some of their best baseball.
They have seen Montas back in June and were able to score runs on them; it is safe to assume that they will all be a little bit better this game with all of the technology they can use to learn from their mistakes last time.
