  • The Rockies are 32-31 against the run line when playing on the road.
  • The Braves are 30-38 against the run line when playing at their home field.

  • Atlanta is 53-49 against the run line as a favorite this season.

The Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves will go head-to-head on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series.

Colorado has played the Braves well through the first two games and enters Thursday with a chance to pull off a series win on the road. With the series all knotted up at one, it would be a major vote of confidence for Colorado if they win on Thursday.

As for Atlanta, they are disappointed with their offensive effort in this series. The Rockies beat them 3-2 before they earned a 3-2 win on Wednesday. But the Braves surely wish they had more going from an offensive perspective.

They will try to get the bats going on Thursday to cap off the series.

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:20 PM EST on Thursday, September 1st, 2022, at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA. We should be in for an exciting bout!

Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves Odds

The Braves are the unsurprising home favorites. However, they have been unable to cover the spread so far in the series despite being favored in both Tuesday and Wednesday’s games.

Can Atlanta cover the run line on Thursday? On paper, the answer seems like it should be a resounding yes. But the Rockies pitchers have stepped up and contained Atlanta’s potent offense.

Let’s take a closer look at this ball game.

Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

Colorado Rockies Preview

The Rockies come into this contest with aspirations of upsetting the run line, at the very least. Bettors who roll with them will reap the benefits if Colorado can deliver another upset.

But betting on them is risky without question. The Rockies pitching is lackluster, and their offense is underwhelming away from home. On the season, Colorado is technically first batting average, sixth in OBP, 12th in slugging percentage, and 13th in runs scored.

But much of their production comes during their home games.

The Rockies will have a challenge Spencer Strider set to take the mound for Atlanta on Thursday as well.

For the Rockies, Chad Kuhl (6-7, 5.17) is the scheduled starter for the Rockies. Kuhl has endured an abysmal season on the mound and is going up against a very talented Braves lineup. Nothing will come easy for the veteran right-hander on Thursday.

Atlanta Braves Preview

The defending champion Braves have their sights set on getting the offense going. They have scored three runs or less in each of their past three games. During that three-game stretch, Atlanta has tallied just one victory.

Overall, this is a ball club still playing well for the most part. But they are in the midst of a mini-slump. They will want to turn things around before the sleep becomes too much to bear.

On the year, the Braves are ninth in batting average, 10th in OBP, second in slugging percentage, third in runs scored, and second in home runs. Those numbers are an indication that Atlanta should bounce back soon.

Pitching-wise, they are sixth in team ERA, eighth in WHIP, fourth in home runs surrendered, and fourth in batting average against.

They play a balanced brand of baseball which is the biggest reason for their overall success. The Braves are simply too talented to continue laboring.

Spencer Strider (8-4, 2.87) gets the start on Thursday. The right-hander is a strikeout machine who’s been excellent in 2022. Because of his high amount of strikeouts, he sometimes struggles to work deep into games.

But he’s still been fantastic for Atlanta, nonetheless.

Injury Report

For the Rockies, Lucas Gilbreath was recently placed on the 15-day IL with an elbow flexor strain.

Anthony Senzatela recently tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

Star 3B/OF Kris Bryant remains on the iL, and his timetable is fairly unclear. It has been a disappointing season for Bryant in his first year with the Rockies. KB will hope for a healthier 2023 season.

For the Braves, Ozzie Albies is starting a rehab assignment. The second baseman will be a crucial addition to the big league roster upon his return to Atlanta.

Jackson Stephens was placed on the 7-day IL with a concussion earlier this week. Chadwick Tromp and Orlando Arcia are both on the 10-day IL.

The Braves’ main focus right now is to get healthy ahead of the MLB playoffs. They would love to catch the New York Mets in the NL East standings. But staying healthy and locking up an NL Wild Card spot is what the Braves have their sights set on for now.

Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves Picks and Predictions

Which team should you place your money on? Can the Rockies upset the run line once again, or will Atlanta bounce back and display their dominance?

The Braves are the seemingly easy pick. But bettors who have rolled with them on the run line over the past couple of days have been burned.

However, Atlanta should be able to get back on track with Spencer Strider on the mound. The Braves lineup is also destined to post a respectable amount of runs on the board in this game.

The Pick:

Go ahead and take the Atlanta Braves -1.5 as your betting selection in this Thursday National League ball game.
