Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Preview
The “Crosstown Classic” will take place this weekend when the Cubs and the White Sox will play their first game of a three-game series. The first pitch this evening is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. eastern.
These two teams played a three-game series at the beginning of August at Wrigley Field. The White Sox were able to sweep the Cubs. Every game in that series was won by more than a single run.
The Cubs are at a point where getting to the 2022 season is about all they are hopeful for. They are currently 17 games under .500, and it is not going to get any easier the rest of the way out.
The White Sox should use this series as a confidence booster. After splitting a four-game series with Toronto, the White Sox need to make quick work of the Cubs.

Cubs Look to Build Off a Series Win
After being swept by the Royals the series prior, the Cubs went out and took two of three games from the Rockies. A series win may not seem like a big deal to most clubs, but for the Cubs, any positivity they can take into that clubhouse is great for that group of guys.
There are a few guys on this new Cubs lineup that are doing everything in their power to find success. Patrick Wisdom was getting some time with the likes of Bryant and Rizzo around, but now that they are gone, he has become a solid everyday starter. Hitting over .250 and adding almost 30 extra-base hits with 44 RBI’s, Wisdom has made his presence known.
White Sox Look to Stay Consistent
Currently sitting atop the American League Central, the White Sox are looking to hold onto the nine-game lead. What will help them to that is making sure they win the series. With a comfortable lead, winning the series is all they need to do. Unfortunately, since the All-Star break, this has been a struggle.
In the 12 different series they have played, they are 4-6-2. While they have not given up much in standings, this is not the recipe the team wants to take into a playoff run. Their pitching has been their catalyst. The rotation of Lance Lynn, Carlos Rodon, Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito, and Dallas Keuchel is one of the best in baseball.
Pitching Matchup
The Cubs will send Keegan Thompson to the mound this evening. A relief pitcher by trade, Thompson will make his third start of the season. He has an overall record of 3-3 with a 2.42 ERA.
Dallas Keuchel will be on the hill for the White Sox. He is currently 8-7 and has a 4.71 ERA. Unfortunately, Keuchel has struggled as of late. He is 1-3 in his last four starts. He has struggled to miss barrels, only striking out 11 hitters in 22 innings of work.
White Sox Win
While Keuchel has been struggling as of late, this is the type of game that he can use to get him right back on track. A struggling Cubs team, starting a relief pitcher on the mound is exactly what the White Sox team as a whole can use to get their confidence back in order.
