Betting Odds
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals keep fighting. They were expected to lose two Sundays ago in Kansas City, and they calmly upset those odds. But that has truly been their story over the past couple of years.
When first-round pick Joe Burrow injured himself in 2020 and was forced to miss the last portion of his rookie season, the future was cloudy for the underwhelming Bengals.
The preseason 2021 odds had the Ravens, Browns, and Steelers all favored to compete in the AFC North while Cincinnati was left on the backburner. But the Bengals simply did not care.
Burrow returned with a vengeance en route to being named the Comeback Player of the Year. Rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase enjoyed a star rookie campaign and was ultimately named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Bengals went on to win the division, which was a feel-good story in itself. But they were far from done.
They overcame the Raiders in the Wild Card Game but then had to deal with Derrick Henry and the Titans in Tennessee. But they escaped with a low-scoring victory thanks to a sturdy defensive performance. Cincinnati then headed to Kansas City, where they pulled off the upset over the Chiefs in a thrilling overtime affair.
The Bengals feel like a team of destiny this season. This might be a dynasty in the making, but for now, they will focus on upsetting the odds once again in the Super Bowl.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have also dealt with adversity this year.
They overcame a number of close losses, including two against their rivals in San Francisco, to win the NFC West.
The offensive connection between Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford was magnetic all year long. Kupp even received some MVP votes and was ultimately named the Offensive Player of the Year.
The stout defense is led by Defensive Player of the Year finalist Aaron Donald. This is not the best defense in the NFL, but they have the ability to make momentum-changing plays.
Los Angeles kicked off the postseason by defeating the Cardinals in convincing fashion. But then they had to go up against the legend Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. Despite almost blowing a giant lead, the Rams held on and won by a field goal.
Finally, they had to defeat the 49ers at home. However, San Francisco had won six consecutive games against LA.
But the Rams defense was terrific, and the team emerged victoriously.
Matthew Stafford and the Rams are not used to being the favorites, and they will still play with a chip on their shoulder against Cincinnati on Sunday.

There is a consistent spread across the board, handing a slight advantage to the Rams. Some of that is due to the fact that Los Angeles is playing at their home field. While the NFL does not want to call them the home team since the Super Bowl is supposed to be played at a neutral location, the fact is that the Rams are playing at home.
But Bengals fans are well-traveled, and they have waited a significant amount of years to see their team in the Super Bowl. Cincinnati should be well-represented in the stands despite the location of this game.
But the odds have simply not mattered to either of these teams this season. The Cardinals started off the year undefeated, and the odds were in their favor to win the NFC West, but then the Rams came roaring back and took over the division. The Bengals overcame three other teams who were favored in their division to capture the AFC North title.
How To Bet On: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams Betting lines
The majority of the general public is concerned about who will win this game. However, bettors have more to think about than who emerge victoriously.
Can the Rams cover the four-point spread?
Almost every game during the postseason has been extremely close, and I expect Sunday to be no different. I think the Bengals can cover regardless of who ends up winning.
As for the winner of the game, you could make strong arguments for either side. The Rams strong defense paired with Cincinnati’s questionable offensive line provides them with an automatic advantage,
But Burrow knows how to successfully maneuver in the pocket and make plays even while being chased down. We should also expect a lot of quick passes on slants and screens to offset the Rams blitz attacks.
In the end, Cincinnati feels like the team of destiny this season. Kicker Evan McPherson might be called upon late in this game to kick the biggest field goal of his life and send the Bengals back to Ohio as champions.
