The Kansas City Chiefs host the New York Giants as they try and slow down a talented New York squad from building momentum.
Time to Strike for New York?
New York has a little momentum after piecing together their most complete game of the season last week in a 25-3 win over the Panthers last Sunday at home. The atmosphere and quality of the opponent gets a little more difficult in week 8, but this year’s Chiefs squad isn’t like those of the past.
Kansas City is in a rut after a 27-3 beatdown from the Titans last week. Sportsbooks .seem to be thinking that the return to Arrowhead Stadium and with the electricity of a Monday Night Football helping the Chiefs right their ship. Bovada has betting odds of KC -10, as does BetUS.

Great Opportunity for Giants
New York heads to primetime at Arrowhead Stadium, which is usually a tough place to play. Fans are starting to get restless with the Chiefs’ 3-4 start, and KC safety Tyrann Mathieu didn’t do any favors this past week by calling his own fans “the most toxic in all of sports.”
Mathieu has since walked back those statements, but this still looks like a great opportunity for New York to take the crowd out of the equation if they can get off to a hot start – at the very least, to cover the +10 betting odds.
The Giants at +360 in moneyline betting isn’t even a bad option as they looked really good last week in the 22-point win over Carolina. Daniel Jones completed 23 of 33 passes with a TD, and New York ran for 103 as a team vs. a Panthers defense that ranks 3rd in the NFL in total yards allowed.
The Chiefs defense will give it up, which is why sportsbooks are brave to set the betting lines at Kansas City -10. Then again, New York remains pretty banged up on offense with Saquon Barkley (ankle) and Kenny Golladay (knee) already being ruled out for the Monday night tilt.
Season on the Line Already for KC
A loss on Monday doesn’t seem likely with the Chiefs a double-digit favorite on the betting odds, but is it too early in the season to call this a must-win game for Kansas City? Getting defeated by the Giants at home on a Monday night loses the fans for the rest of the season and, more importantly, puts the distance from 5-2 Las Vegas and the 4-2 Chargers insurmountable.
It still doesn’t seem like the Chiefs are a sure thing for Monday’s NFL picks. QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a concussion last week and wasn’t able to finish the game in the 27-3 loss to Tennessee. Mahomes has been cleared for Monday night, but he’s thrown multiple INTs in three of the last five and completed a season-low 57.1% of his passes last week.
Sportsbooks have set totals betting for this game with the O/U at 52, a number that will likely be hammered on the side of the over. KC struggled offensively last week but were also on the road, and New York’s defense isn’t as good as they looked in holding the Panthers to 3 points. At the same time, the Chiefs defense gave up a score to the Titans on the first five drives of the game and remains one of the worst units in football.
Giants at Chiefs Betting Picks
Kansas City will draw some public wagering even with the -10 point betting odds because they are a popular team (offense) to watch in a nationally televised Monday night game. That seems like just way too many points to give, though based solely on the Chiefs’ defense.
If the Giants’ offense were a little healthier, this would be a more confident play, but taking the points still looks to be the way to go.
Pick: Giants +10
