Betting on Carolina Panthers
The Panthers‘ lone win in 2022 came against the New Orleans Saints in a home affair. Carolina pulled out a 22-12 victory over the Saints to jump into the win column.
Christian McCaffrey unsurprisingly led the charge with 108 rushing yards to pace the offense. His performance offset the shaky effort from QB Baker Mayfield.
The Panthers did a tremendous job of limiting New Orleans in the red zone. They also picked off QB Jameis Winston twice in the attempt to capture momentum.
That win came on the heels of back-to-back competitive losses. The Panthers were 1-2 after Week 3, and looked like they could be a decent team.
And then Weeks 4 and 5 happened.
Carolina lost to the Cardinals 26-16 in Week 4, and to the 49ers 37-15 in Week 5. Both the offense and defense struggled in both games, and it was clear change was needed.
The Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule after Week 5. Additionally, a defensive coach was let go, and Baker Mayfield is expected to miss Week 6 with an injury.
This is going to look like a completely different Panthers squad in Week 6. And perhaps that is for the best.
On the season, Carolina ranks 24th in points per game and 31st in total yards per game. Defensively, they are 20th in points against per game, and 20th in total yards against per game.
It will be interesting to see how they fare in LA on the road. Their new changes will either spark new life or set them back further.
Betting on Los Angeles Rams
The Rams enter Week 6 fresh off of a pair of losses in Weeks 4 and 5. One of their main issues as of late has been their offense, notably their offensive line.
The Rams lost 24-9 against the 49ers in Week 4 and 22-10 against the Cowboys in Week 5. Matthew Stafford was continuously under pressure, and the Rams’ offense has failed to get much of anything going in recent memory.
Cooper Kupp is still posting big numbers, but he’s been one of the few standouts on the team amid their 2-3 start.
The Rams are just 29th in points per game, and 26th in total yards per game so far in 2022. Those are shocking rankings considering this team won the Super Bowl a year ago.
Their lack of a rushing game has been an issue as well, as they rank dead-last in rushing yards per contest.
The Rams’ defense has fared well for the most part. They are 16th in points against per game and 11th in total yards against per game.
Los Angeles is looking to put their struggles in the past and take care of business on Sunday. Winning the game should not prove to be too difficult, but covering the home spread will be the real challenge.

- Bravvion Roy and Andre Roberts have been injured since mid-September, and their timetables are unclear at the moment.

- David Edwards recently entered concussion protocol.
