Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees Betting Preview (Tues)
We’re about to head into the second week of September, and the Tampa Bay Rays have all but finished the AL East off. They have an 8.5 game lead over the Yankees and aren’t looking back.
Several AL Wild Card teams are still in play, though. Currently, the Red Sox and Yankees hold the first and second wild card spots, but that could change before October. That makes this Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees series even more important.
The Yankees have a three-game lead over the Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card race. Seattle is also tied with the Blue Jays at three games back. Oakland is only 3.5 games back. It’s sure to be an exciting finish in the American League.
New York heads into Tuesday’s matchup, favored by 1.5 on the run line according to BetUS. For more odds and MLB bets to make, head over to Online Betting Sports for the latest odds and action.

Toronto Blue Jays Preview
Steven Matz is set to take the mound for Toronto on Tuesday night. Statistically, Matz is putting up the best season of his career. He’s 10-7 with a 3.80 ERA. Matz hasn’t allowed more than 2 earned runs since July 28th.
The Blue Jays are 8-2 in their last ten games and staying hot at the right time of the season. They may not be able to catch up in the AL East, but they can certainly steal a playoff spot by sneaking into the wild card.
Toronto’s offense has been absolutely phenomenal this season. They have seven starters with an OPS+ of over 100, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who would likely be AL MVP if Shohei Ohtani wasn’t putting up historical numbers on the mound and at the plate this season.
New York Yankees Preview
The Yankees offense has been no slouch in 2021, either. They have four starters with an OPS+ of over 100 and a pitching staff that is better than that of Toronto’s.
New York is putting their ace on the mound on Tuesday. Gerritt Cole has been nothing short of great again in 2021. He’s 14-6 with a 2.73 ERA. Cole has looked completely unbeatable at times.
Aaron Judge has returned to MVP form in 2021, and his WAR is already over five on the season. Judge is looking for his best season since 2017 and likely going to get it. His current numbers are already good enough for his 2nd best season in the majors.
Giancarlo Stanton is putting together a solid season as well. He hasn’t quite met his Miami standards, but it may still be his best season in pinstripes. He’s slashing .266/.358/.489 on the season.
Cole Keeps Rolling
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, they run into Gerrit Cole in the midst of a hunt for a playoff position. Cole hasn’t allowed more than 1 earned run in his last four starts and doesn’t look to slow down now.
We look for the Yankees to run the score up on Steven Matz while the Blue Jays are unable to get in a rhythm against Cole.
Toronto is 70-66 against the run line this season which is a bit better than New York, but the Yankees tend to dominate with Cole on the mound. Take the Yankees at -1.5, and they cover the line on Tuesday night.
