The third grand slam of the 2023 season is underway for the top tennis players in the world. So far, the weather has been the clear winner, with rain wreaking havoc on the tennis schedule at Wimbledon on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, with a few seeds eliminated, the Wimbledon futures are still going strong with revised and improved odds for both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

The rain so far has made things tough as matches have backed up on the schedule. Players are going to have to play on back-to-back days, so checking the schedule to see who actually gets a day off is the best option while making individual and future bets.

Wimbledon Betting Preview

Men’s Preview

On the men’s side, this event has been completely dominated by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal over the last two decades. With Federer retired and Nadal injured, Djokovic is the last man standing of the Big Three for this year’s event. Not only is he the defending champion, but he has won the last four Wimbledon titles and six of the last eight.

Djokovic entered this year’s event as the overwhelming favorite in Wimbledon futures with an 86-10 career record at the event. Andy Murray, who won in 2013 and 2017, is the only other active champion, while Matteo Berretini and Milos Raonic are the only other players in the event to make the finals.

  • Djokovic is 7-0 in the Wimbledon finals and will tie Roger Federer for the most Wimbledon titles in men’s history with a win.
  • Djokovic has the most grand slam titles in men’s history with 23 and has already won the first two slams of the 2023 season.
  • Carlos Alcaraz is 5-0 on grass in 2023 and 9-2 in his career.
  • Alcaraz has five titles on the ATP Tour so far in 2023, including two ATP 1000 Masters titles.
  • Janik Sinner had a two-set lead on Djokovic in last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinals before losing in five sets.

Djokovic and Alcaraz appear to be on a collision course for Wimbledon matchups. As the top two seeds, they cannot meet before the final. Djokovic beat Alcaraz convincingly at the French Open, winning the final two sets 6-1 and 6-1.

Comfortable on grass and playing with confidence, it is tough to imagine Djokovic losing this title if he remains healthy. Sinner is a player that can possibly give Djokovic trouble before the final based on his play last year, and the two could meet in the semifinals.

Women’s Preview

With Serena Williams retired, the women’s field is more wide open, and the tennis odds reflect this. Last year, Elena Rybankina won her first grand slam title with a three-set win over Ons Jabeur. The previous winners, Ash Barty, Simona Halep, and Angelique Kerber, are not in the field this year, while 2021 runner-up Karolina Pliskova lost in the first round.

Top seed Iga Swiatek won the French Open last month but hasn’t had a ton of success on grass. Her draw got easier when #7 seed Coco Gauff lost in the first round, and other possible semifinal seeded opponents Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia have looked shaky over the past couple of months.

  • Looking at Wimbledon stats, top seed Iga Swiatek has never been past the fourth round at this event.
  • Elena Rybakina is 10-1 at Wimbledon in her career heading into the 2023 tournament.
  • Aryna Sabalenka, the 2023 Australian Open champion, reached the semis at Wimbledon in 2021 and didn’t play in the event last year.
  • Sabalenka has reached the semis in each of the first two grand slams in 2023.

Looking at tennis picks, Rybankina is 31-8 in 2023 with three titles. She is only 1-1 on grass this season but won at Wimbledon last year. Her power game is well suited for the speed of the grass courts, and she has the conditioning to get through three-set matches and play on consecutive days.

Her draw is tougher than Swiatek’s at the top of the draw, but Rybakina has the game to beat the top seed and claim the title in Wimbledon futures bets.

Wimbledon Odds & Picks

Odds for this Matchup

Looking at the Wimbledon odds, Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek are the favorites for the futures bets to claim the titles on Centre Court in London.

On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic is the clear pick to win his eighth Wimbledon title and 24th grand slam. He appears extremely motivated to cement his status as the greatest player of all time while also setting himself up for the calendar Grand Slam at the U.S. Open. Take Djokovic to win, even at the -170 odds

The women’s event is more wide open, and any of the top five or six players could come out on top. Rybankina, Sabalenka, and Jabeur are all in the bottom half of the bracket, so they have a much tougher path than Swiatek at the top of the bracket.

However, Rybankina is the pick here to repeat in the +450 range, as she has the game and the pedigree to lift the trophy again at Wimbledon.

  • Pick 1: Djokovic -170
  • Pick 2: Rybankina +450
