The Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1) and LSU Tigers (6-2) will face off on Saturday in a crucial NCAAF matchup.
The Crimson Tide suffered a tough loss at the hands of Tennessee in October. They have played well for the most part otherwise, but this Alabama team is not as dominant as they have been in past years. As a result, LSU will have an opportunity to upset the odds.
The Tigers also lost to Tennessee earlier in the season. But Brian Kelly has led LSU to a solid season overall. They will look to utilize their home-field advantage on Saturday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST on Saturday, November 5th, at Tiger Stadium. Let’s take a look at the betting trends, odds, and predictions for this contest.
Alabama:
LSU:
Alabama enters this game as a heavy favorite despite playing on the road. These oddsmakers are not providing LSU with much respect in this affair, and that is understandable given their opponent.
The Crimson Tide and Tigers are both 5-3 against the spread this year. For the most part, both have fared well when attempting to cover the spread.
However, Alabama is just 1-2 against the spread on the road. Meanwhile, LSU is 4-1 against it at home. And the Tigers will have a decent chance of covering, given the lofty spread in this game.
The over/under is set at right around 57 in this game. It will be interesting to see if the over hits. Both defenses are capable of getting the job done, but Alabama’s offense has what it takes to lead this game to the over.
And if LSU finds their rhythm on the offensive end, the under’s odds of hitting while decrease dramatically.
Can Alabama cover the spread in this game? Or will LSU take care of business at home and upset the Crimson Tide?
The Crimson Tide are better than the Tigers in just about every category that matters. Their offense is able to produce more damage, and the defense is capable of holding down the fort.
QB Bryce Young will be in the Heisman conversation once again this season. Young has thrown for over 1,900 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns compared to only three interceptions.
With that being said, this is an LSU team that can put up points. Tigers’ QB Jayden Daniels has thrown for over 1,800 yards with 12 touchdowns and one interception.
If they are able to attack the Alabama defense all game long, they may be able to upset the spread at the very least. The Crimson Tide’s defensive unit has shown some holes at times this year.
LSU’s odds of realistically making the college football playoff are not great. There are five talented undefeated teams at the top of the national rankings heading into the weekend. Meanwhile, Alabama is ranked sixth and is 7-1, while TCU is also undefeated and ranked eighth.
That leaves No. 8 Oregon (7-1), No. 9 USC (7-1), and No. 10 LSU (6-2). The Tigers have some ground to make up and desperately need to defeat Alabama in order to keep their hopes alive.
The same can be said for the Crimson Tide. It would take a miracle for the Crimson Tide to get back into the playoff conversation if they suffer another loss.
With both teams lacking no shortage of motivation, which team should you place your money on?
This may wind up being a competitive game. LSU has talent and potential on its roster.
However, Alabama is a powerhouse. Their loss against Tennessee was a product of a tremendous Volunteers team taking care of business. But the Crimson Tide are still impressive.
This game will be competitive throughout, but Alabama should be able to pull away as the game rolls on.
In the end, betting against the Crimson Tide is always risky. Alabama is the pick to click in this Saturday’s contest.
Go ahead and place your money on the Alabama Crimson Tide -13.5 in this crucial Saturday night NCAAF matchup.
