Field of Dreams hosts Yankees, White Sox
The New York Yankees are headed to Dyersville, Iowa, to meet up with the Chicago White Sox in a historic game at the Field of Dreams. MLB has spent years working on this field and stadium, and the time has finally come to play ball come Thursday night. The game should have a lot of eyeballs on it, as it will be on Fox tonight at 7:00 EST. There won’t be many eyeballs watching the game live, as the seating accommodations are very low relative to a normal MLB stadium. This has caused ticket sales to go through the roof as well, with the cheapest ticket costing just over $1000 on the secondary market.
More eyes means more betting opportunities and even a likelihood that you could see some unique bets in this game. If you are looking to bet on the game tonight, head here for great options.

New York Yankees Lineup
The Yankees have been ravaged by Covid-19, even after being the third team to hit an 85% clubhouse vaccination rate earlier in the season. At this point, the notable names missing for the Yankees due to Covid-19 are Gary Sanchez, Anthony Rizzo, Gerrit Cole, and Jordan Montgomery. They are also without Gleyber Torres and Gio Urshela, who are dealing with nagging injuries.
The Yankees have been dealing with issues like this all season, so this is nothing new. It does mean that the lineup isn’t as strong as it could be. At full strength, the Yankees’ lineup would project as one of the best offenses of all time based on WRC+, an all-encompassing stat that suggests how many runs you create relative to an average MLB player.
This is possible because Giancarlo Stanton has recently decided that he wants to play the field again, giving the Yankees the option of starting the largest outfield in the history of baseball, and I feel safe saying that without a fact check.
I’d expect a lineup that includes Gallo, Stanton, Voit, LeMathieu, Higashioka, Gardner, Odor, and Tyler Wade, but that could change a bit depending on the left side of the infield.
Chicago White Sox Lineup
The White Sox enter this game with a firm grasp of the AL Central and looking to show off a bit on national TV vs a historic powerhouse that is looking to make a playoff push. The White Sox are getting healthy at the right time with guys like Eloy Jiminez and Luis Robert joining the squad recently, giving them even more life. The White Sox should be close to full strength in this game, meaning it could be a long day for Andrew Heaney.
The Pitching Matchup
Lance Lynn is an interesting case as a star pitcher because he throws as many fastballs as anyone in the league as a starter, and it’s not like he throws 102. Lynn has managed to become efficient and elite when it comes to pitching in the American League over the last few years, but he’s not a guy that’s going to constantly overpower hitters, and those are the guys that I prefer vs. The Yankees. While the Yankees’ firepower is lacking a bit, they still have maybe 4 of the best 10 hard-hit guys in baseball in the lineup against Lynn.
Andrew Heaney has been bad in his short stint as a Yankee, but he was good after allowing 4 early runs in his last start. Was this Heaney settling into pitching for his new team, or was this just him being volatile? I think Heaney is more of an innings eater than a great option, with the Yankees rotation taking big hits over the last week. I expect Heaney to get some K’s with a solid breaking ball, and I expect to see home runs as well.

I don’t have a lot of interest in a side here, but I do love the over 9.5 runs in this game. With Heaney being susceptible to the long ball and Lance Lynn allowing some contact against such a powerful team, I wouldn’t be surprised if either team had a big day offensively.
