Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs NFL Betting Analysis, Odds & Picks
The AFC West winning Kansas City Chiefs prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the postseason on Sunday.
When the Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago on Monday Night Football, it felt like a nice farewell to Ben Roethlisberger in his final home game and nothing more.
Yes, Pittsburgh technically had a chance at the postseason, but it would require a lowly Jacksonville Jaguars team to beat a quality Indianapolis Colts unit the following week, while Pittsburgh had to beat the Baltimore Ravens. Also, the result of the Raiders and Chargers game had to be anything but a tie.
But then Jacksonville upset Indianapolis, and the Steelers won against Baltimore. However, Steelers fans almost lost it when the Chargers and Raiders game went into overtime. But Las Vegas ended up winning the game with two seconds remaining, ultimately sending the Steelers to the playoffs.
Kansas City’s story is not quite as thrilling, as they clinched their division a few weeks ago. The Chiefs defeated the Broncos 28-24 in Week 18 to send them to the playoffs on a high note.
Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday night at 8:15 P.M. EST. at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO.
Betting Analysis for Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs NFL
Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Stats & Analysis
What a wild ride it has been for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the past couple of weeks. Their playoff chances seemed fairly unrealistic until the final game of the season. But do they have any more good luck in store?
Most of the media are not giving Pittsburgh any kind of shot at beating the Chiefs. This is understandable given that the Steelers narrowly snuck into the postseason. But they do have some talent on this roster and should not be completely ruled out.
The win against Baltimore last week was far from a pretty one. Pittsburgh ended up earning the victory with a 16-13 final score.
Ben Roethlisberger finished 30-44 with over 240 yards and one touchdown. Big Ben may not be the quarterback he once was, but he is still going to grind it out and do everything in his power to give his team the best opportunity to win.
But it was the defense that stole the show against a Ravens offense that was without LaMar Jackson. Pittsburgh intercepted quarterback Tyler Huntley twice while also recovering a fumble in the game.
But the win against the Steelers makes two consecutive games in which they have displayed a valiant defensive effort. In their 26-14 victory over Cleveland two weeks ago, Pittsburgh limited Baker Mayfield to under 160 yards passing while picking him off twice.
They could give Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense some trouble if they continue to play in an aforementioned manner. Yes, Kansas City features a better offense than both of the teams we just discussed, but the Steelers defense will have confidence in this matchup because of their recent success.
Pittsburgh’s chances of upsetting the odds lie on the performance of the defense in this game.
Kansas City Chiefs Betting Stats & Analysis
The Chiefs rebounded tremendously following a shaky start to the 2021 campaign, as the team won nine of their final ten games to clinch the division. But the Broncos certainly gave Kansas City a run for their money in the final week of the season.
The Chiefs escaped with a 28-24 victory in a competitive ballgame. Patrick Mahomes finished 27-44 through the air with two touchdown passes to his credit.
Kansas City just missed earning the top seed and getting a bye this week. But that honor went to the Titans, so the Chiefs will prepare to battle Pittsburgh on Sunday.
However, the status of two crucial players is currently in question. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was downgraded from a limited participant in practice to a non-participant in practice on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.
Top wide receiver Tyreek Hill was limited in practice on Wednesday after suffering a heel injury in Week 18 against Denver. Hill’s status is certainly worth monitoring as he is one of Mahomes’s favorite targets. His game-changing speed will be greatly missed if he is unable to suit up on Sunday.
It is conceivable that both end up playing on Sunday as well. Right now, they should both be classified as questionable.
With or without them, the Chiefs are heavy betting favorites heading into Sunday’s action.

How To Bet On: Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs NFL – Betting lines
If you are feeling extremely gutsy, you could take a chance on the Steelers.
But I would not recommend it. Big Ben even said that the Steelers have no shot against the Chiefs. Now, he was being sarcastic, but I happen to agree with him.
The main reason why Kansas City would not cover is if they have a huge lead entering the fourth quarter and decide to rest their starters, therefore allowing Pittsburgh to upset the spread. But even that has a low probability of occurring.
Expect Kansas City to get the job done on Sunday night.
