Odds, Picks and Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) and Buffalo Bills (3-1) will square off on Sunday in Buffalo.
The Steelers kicked off their season with an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. It seemed as if the Mitchell Trubisky experiment was going to work out. However, they have dropped three games since Week 1 and handed QB1 duties to Kenny Pickett.
As for Buffalo, they have not been quite as dominant as people expected. Nevertheless, the Bills are 3-1 and are starting to get their feet underneath them. The Bills may be in line for a big game on Sunday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST on Sunday, October 9th, at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, NY.

Betting on Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers‘ mixture of injuries and underperformance have led to their downfall in 2022. Pittsburgh’s entire secondary is currently depleted, with multiple players listed on the injury report, including safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
It goes without saying, but a depleted secondary is an issue against a team like the Bills.
The Steelers swapped out Mitch Trubisky for Kenny Pickett last week in their narrow 24-20 defeat against the New York Jets. Pickett went 10-13 through the air but tallied three interceptions.
Nevertheless, he displayed signs of potential. The Steelers’ rookie should feel more comfortable as he has an ample amount of time to prepare for this start. With that being said, Buffalo’s strong defense will cause havoc.
Pittsburgh will need a strong performance from running back Najee Harris in order to have any chance of upsetting the odds. Harris tallied over 70 rushing yards last week but was unable to find the end zone.
The Steelers’ offense ranks 23rd in points per game, 31st in total yards per game, 29th in passing yards per game, and 23rd in rushing yards per game. Defensively, they are 15th in points against per game, 24th in total yards against per game, 12th in sacks, and tied for first in interceptions.
Can Pittsburgh overcome their injuries and pull off a shocking upset? As a 14-point underdog, it won’t be easy. But they could plausibly upset the spread at the very least.
Let’s take a look at the Bills.
Betting on Buffalo Bills
The Bills are the obvious team to beat in this game. Buffalo is fresh off of a competitive 23-20 victory against the Ravens in Baltimore.
QB Josh Allen went 19-36 through the air with 213 passing yards and a touchdown. However, Allen did not play his best game as he fired an interceptions and did not produce his usual elite numbers.
But Allen made up for it on the ground with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown. He led the Bills in rushing on the day, and Buffalo probably doesn’t win if Allen doesn’t play the way he did.
The Bills’ defense did just enough to contain the Ravens. Lamar Jackson also led the Ravens in rushing yards, but he fired a pair of costly interceptions.
In the end, this was far from Buffalo’s most impressive performance. But it was a gritty road victory they should be proud of.
On the season, the Bills are fifth in points per game, third in total yards per game, third in passing yards per game, and 12th in rushing yards per game. On the defensive side of the ball, they are second in points against per game, first in total yards against per game, fifth in sacks, and tied for first in interceptions.
The Bills should win this game on paper. Their offense is going to torment the Steelers’ beat up secondary, and the defense will cause trouble for rookie Kenny Pickett.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills Picks and Predictions
After taking an in-depth look at this game, are the Bills the pick to click?
You should absolutely take the Bills on the moneyline. However, the spread will be close.
Buffalo could easily turn this into a blowout and win by 20-plus points. It depends on how aggressive they will be. If the Bills have a big lead heading into the third quarter, they may take their foot off the gas pedal, which could allow the Steelers to make up the spread.
But even with that possibility, the best bet is to take the Bills on the spread as well. The odds of Buffalo covering a two-score lead against a Steelers team missing a number of key players are high. And Pittsburgh is preparing to start a QB set to make his first-ever NFL start.
Sure, Kenny Pickett is talented and has a bright future ahead of him. But he is going to be in for quite the challenge on Sunday.
The Picks:
- Go ahead and take the Buffalo Bills as your moneyline (straight-up) betting selection for this game.
- Take the over on the implied point total in this one.
- Roll with the Buffalo Bills -14 with your Sunday afternoon NFL spread betting selection.
