Jets Coming Off a Rare Win
New York was one of the more surprising NFL teams in Week 8, notching a 34-31 win over Cincinnati that was just the 2nd victory of the season for the Jets. Sportsbooks don’t seem to care, though, with Bovada and BetOnline making NYJ a +10.5 underdog for Thursday’s visit to Indianapolis.
It definitely helps the Colts playing a second straight home game on the short week, but the -10.5 betting line is a lot to give for an Indianapolis team that blew a 14-0 lead on Sunday in a 34-31 OT loss to Tennessee. Indianapolis is now 3-2 over their last five, but both losses did come in overtime.

QB Controversy for Jets?
The Jets are coming into the match as huge underdogs. They were also underdogs last week against Cincinnati when they won 34-31.
It was a shocking win considering QB Mike White was making his first start, but he was brilliant, going 37/45 with 405 yards and 4 TD.
White did throw 2 INTs vs. the Bengals, but for the most part, he outdueled Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow. White was filling in for injured QB Zach Wilson (knee), the #2 pick in the draft, but New York coach Robert Saleh has already stated that White will make a 2nd straight start on Thursday night vs. the Colts.
There’s a chance for some more passing success for the Jets offense on TNF considering the Colts gave up a 23/33 day with 3 TD/2 INT to Titans QB Ryan Tannehill last Sunday. Indianapolis allowed 34 points to the Titans despite Derrick Henry playing a majority of the game with what looks like a season-ending foot injury and finishing with just 68 yards on 28 carries.
Colts Aim For Double Digit Win
Sportsbooks have faith in the Colts on Thursday night, and being at home on the short week is another reason for the -10.5 betting line. The Indianapolis offense has put up 30+ points in three straight games, one of those being a 30-18 win over San Francisco in the pouring rain.
Carson Wentz threw 2 INTs last week that were crucial in the loss to the Titans. He also threw 3 TDs, though, and for the most part, has done a good job of protecting the football, going five straight games without a pick and throwing multiple TDs in the last five. For those interested in totals betting, sportsbooks have the line set at 46.5 points.
The big question for this match is whether the Jets are going to air it out like they did last week against the Bengals? It’s still just White’s second career start at QB (plus now there’s more film on him), and the Colts are tied for the NFL lead with 18 takeaways (nine INT, nine fumbles).
Jets at Colts Pick
Were the Jets good last week, or were the Bengals just flat? New York’s other win this season has come against the Titans, and getting a victory against Tennessee is something that the Colts have failed to do in two meetings this season.
The short week would seem to favor Indianapolis, but Green Bay traveled to the desert last week and left with a victory over previously undefeated Arizona, so home teams on TNF are no sure thing either.
New York’s defense is giving up 42.5 ppg the last two, though, so ultimately, the Colts should be able to get theirs in this game – it’s all up to whether the Indy defense can shut down White in his 2nd career start.
