Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
The NFL Preseason will really start to heat up this week, and the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a rivalry game in Pennsylvania. Even though there isn’t really anything at stake, this game will be a battle that comes with plenty of excitement and hype.
This will actually be the second preseason game already for the Steelers after they took on the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game. Pittsburgh picked up a 16-3 victory in that game, but it wasn’t a game that was played very well.
Philadelphia had one of the most disappointing seasons in league history in 2020 as they were the worst team in a bad NFC East. The Eagles should be in the mix for a division title in 2021, but the preseason is where everything will get started.
The NFL moneyline odds at BetUS Sportsbook have the Philadelphia Eagles as one-point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

Steelers Can Stop Opponents
Pittsburgh is always a strong defensive team under head coach Mike Tomlin, and they looked the part again in the win over the Dallas Cowboys. After giving up a field goal in the first quarter, Pittsburgh completely shut the door on Dallas to help them cruise to a win.
The Steelers have a roster that is filled with some veterans, but there are still some open spots to be had. Pittsburgh will have a number of young defensive players looking to make a case to make the team on Thursday night.
Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins will see most of the playing time at the quarterback position on Thursday night, and this is a battle for the backup position. Rudolph threw for 84 yards in the Hall of Fame Game, but Haskins had some solid moments as well.
The Steelers still have work to do on offense, but getting stops is one way to take control of a game.
Eagles Need Some Offense
Nick Sirianni is now the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, and he is tasked with coming up with a better offensive scheme. Philadelphia was awful on offense for much of 2020, and that will have to be a focus during the preseason.
Jalen Hurts is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Eagles, but Joe Flacco is in the mix as well. Sirianni will likely use both players at some point in this game to give them their first look at live NFL action.
The Eagles should be a solid defensive team this season, and they aren’t facing an explosive offensive attack in this game. Philadelphia will be content if this is a low-scoring battle between the two teams from Philadelphia.
Steelers Win Second Straight
Even though this is just the preseason, each team in the NFL is looking to build up some momentum before the regular season begins. Pittsburgh comes into this game with some experience already, and that is going to play a factor in the outcome.
Philadelphia had an abysmal season in 2020, and the Eagles now have a new coaching staff in place this season. The Eagles will be looking to turn things around in 2021, but most of the key players aren’t going to see much action in this game.
Pittsburgh gave up just three total points in the win over the Dallas Cowboys, and this should be another solid defensive effort in this game. The Eagles will keep the game close since it is a rivalry, but the road team will prevail.
