Betting Analysis for Miami Dolphins at New Orleans Saints NFL
Miami Dolphins Betting Stats & Analysis
The Miami Dolphins have looked like a completely different team over their past six games.
Most people would have been hard-pressed to believe that the Dolphins would have a chance to make the playoffs after their sluggish start to the 2021 campaign. But thanks to extremely strong team play over the past two months, Miami is in contention as the NFL season winds down.
Miami does not stand out in any particular manner. They don’t have a team full of superstars producing huge numbers. But the Dolphins have found ways to win games nonetheless.
Duke Johnson led the charge in the win against the Jets a week ago. The running back rushed 22 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
But the Dolphins defense has been the real story during the winning streak. In five games ranging from November 7th through November 28th, the Dolphins did not allow more than 17 points in a single game. While their level of competition was far from top-tier, Miami was still winning games they needed to win and limiting opposing offenses during the process.
They surrendered 24 points against the Jets in last week’s victory, but Johnson and the offense picked up the load with 31 points.
For the season, Miami’s defense ranks just 17th in points surrendered. But they would be far higher if not for the disappointing beginning of the season.
The most important statistic is that the Dolphins are seventh in limiting the run. This could pay crucial dividends given that the Saints typically rely on Alvin Kamara for much of their offensive success.
Expect Miami to continue their strong play on the defensive end of the ball in this game.
New Orleans Saints Betting Stats & Analysis
The Saints not only defeated the Buccaneers last week, but they were also able to shut out Tom Brady and the Buccaneers’ offense. The Saints’ defense had the upper hand against a Tampa passing attack that appeared to be out of sync all game long.
But New Orleans had struggles of their own on offense. Quarterback Taysom Hill went 13-27 with only 154 yards. Wide receiver Marquez Callaway was responsible for the majority of those yards, with 112 of his own on six receptions.
Alvin Kamara ran for just 18 yards on 11 carries for the game.
The Saints have found ways to win despite losing quarterback Jameis Winston to injury a few weeks ago. The offense ranks 17th in points per game but just 30th in total yards per contest.
But the defense has been the talking for New Orleans this year as well. They rank fifth in points allowed per game and fifth in stopping the run. They also excel at causing turnovers with 15 interceptions which is good for sixth overall in the NFL.
But shutting out Tom Brady was their most impressive accomplishment so far in 2021. New Orleans limited the future Hall of Fame quarterback to 26-48 passing with 214 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.
The Saints will look to pull off a similar performance against Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins on Monday night.
