The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs prepare to square off in Week 3 of the NFL preseason. Both teams enter this game with one win and one loss so far during the preseason. They are aiming to finish with a victory on Thursday.
The Packers started off the preseason with a defeat at the hands of the 49ers. But they rebounded nicely with a victory against the Saints at home. They will look to use that win as a motivation as the Chiefs in Kansas City on Thursday.
The Chiefs also started the preseason with a loss against the Bears. However, they bounced back with a victory over the Commanders. If they can win on Thursday, Kansas City would love the boost of momentum heading into the 2022 campaign.
The first pitch is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST on Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO.
Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs Odds
Teams | Moneyline | Total | Run Line |
Packers | -120 | O 36 | -1 |
Chiefs | +100 | U 36 | +1 |
The Packers are the favorites despite being the road team on Thursday. But the one-point spread is not exactly all that convincing. This is a game that could go either way.
Green Bay and Kansas City are projected to be two of the NFL’s best teams this season. But it remains to be seen which starters will play on Thursday. As a result, betting on preseason games can prove to be difficult.
Both the Packers and Chiefs have had similar preseasons so far. They both started out with losses before rebounding with victories. And although this game doesn’t count, both teams will likely play with a little bit of extra fire since there is mutual respect between them.
But which team should you place your bets on? Can the Chiefs earn the upset victory, or will the Packers take care of business on the road?

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview
Green Bay Packers Preview
The Packers and Chiefs will go head-to-head in this matchup. The Packers are aiming for improved defense in 2022. And the early results have been promising.
Green Bay believes they have enough defensive depth to help carry the burden in terms of winning games. It could be the difference between simply making the playoffs and reaching the Super Bowl.
The Packers were ninth in points per game last year, ninth in passing yards per game, 11th in total yards, and 18th in rushing yards. For the most part, their offense is capable of leading them to win.
Aaron Rodgers continues to excel despite his career entering the later stages. He’s an incredibly talented and intelligent QB and is primed to lead Green Bay to another successful season in 2022.
However, the team has dealt with some struggles at the wide receiver position during the preseason. They are doing everything in their power to replace Davante Adams. But that is obviously much easier said than done.
But if the defense steps up like it is supposed to, the offense will be able to play loose. This will allow the young receivers to have time to settle in. And with Rodgers throwing them the football, that process should be seamless.
The Packers are always an intriguing team to place bets on. They tend to do well against the spread and should have an opportunity to cover the 1-point listed spread on Thursday.
But the Chiefs have a solid home crowd which will place momentum and energy on their side. So Green Bay needs to come out firing on all cylinders.
Kansas City Chiefs Preview
The Chiefs enter play fresh off of a 10-point victory over the Commanders. Kansas City expects to compete for a Super Bowl once again this year.
However, there is no question that losing Tyreek Hill is going to hurt the team. The Chiefs will need the defense and running game to step up with Hill no longer in the passing game.
In the end, Patrick Mahomes is still an elite QB who is going to lead KC to plenty of wins. But Hill was one of his favorite targets over the past few seasons.
Last year, KC was fourth in points per game, third in total yards per game, fourth in passing yards per game, and 16th in rushing yards per game. So in a similar fashion to Green Bay, the Chiefs have leaned on the passing attack for quite some time.
Kansas City was mediocre against the spread in 2020. Their overall record was .500. But they are certainly a threat to upset these odds on Thursday.
With that being said, the Chiefs rarely play the role of an underdog since they are typically favored to win.
Injury Report
Derrick Gore and Justyn Ross are listed on the IL for Kansas City. Gore was recently played on the IR after suffering a thumb injury.
For Green Bay, Gabe Brkic, Malik Taylor, Danny Davis, and Vernon Scott are all dealing with ailments. Scott and Davis were recently added to the IR for the Packers.
For the most part, both teams are fairly healthy, heading into Thursday’s clash.
Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs Picks and Predictions
The Packers and Chiefs always make for entertaining football.
However, in a preseason game, I think rolling with the Chiefs as a home underdog is worth the risk.
The Pick:
Take the Kansas City Chiefs +1 with your Thursday night betting pick.
