Three NFL Favorites to Hammer for Sunday, Week 5
Week 5 of the NFL season features plenty of eye-catching matchups and some rather lopsided affairs as well. Today, we are going to take a look at three teams who could make you some money this weekend.
We will look at the betting odds, courtesy of BetUS and Bovada, and preview three different matchups. The first two will be underdogs we believe could come out victorious, and the third will be a team that should be able to overcome an extremely tight spread.
Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
TOP #3 Sports Betting Sites to Bet on NFL
Eagles +140 @ Panthers
According to Bovada, the Panthers are 3 point favorites in this one.
It should be noted that Christian McCaffrey is questionable for Week 5. As of this article’s writing, it looks as if he has a 50/50 chance of playing. Regardless, this is a game that the Eagles can win.
Jalen Hurts looked sharp last week in a loss against Kansas City, throwing for 387 yards and two touchdowns while displaying his impressive scrambling ability with eight rushes for 47 yards. While a repeat of that performance will be difficult against a tough Carolina defense, Hurts and this offense should still be able to post decent numbers.
The Eagles’ defense leads the league in penalties, so remaining disciplined on that side of the ball will be mandatory. Obviously, if McCaffrey is ruled out or is even limited, that is an automatic boost to this defensive unit.
There are no guarantees, but the Eagles have shown improvement and have a chance to upset the betting odds against Carolina on the road.
Browns +115 @ Chargers
Bovada has the Chargers as 2 point favorites at home. But the Browns’ whole attitude this season is to upset all of the lines and odds. They cherish the role of the underdog.
The Browns feature a strong defense and a decent offense. Their dynamic rushing duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt could cause problems for Los Angeles. While Baker Mayfield has endured his share of struggles, the Browns’ solid running game has picked him up.
Justin Herbert looked great on Monday Night Football and will look to keep things going against the Browns defensive unit. If Myles Garret and company can consistently keep pressure on him, we could see a mediocre outing from the second-year QB.
I like this selection because you are spending your betting pick on a good team in the Browns. Whenever you choose a quality team for an upset, there is a bit of extra hope that it will come to fruition.
Broncos -105 @ Steelers
The betting odds for this game practically have it as a draw. Some sportsbooks have the Steelers as 1 point favorites, while others have Denver as 1 point favorites. In fact, BetUS has the spread listed as pk-110, which means their odds are about as even as it gets.
However, we will label the Broncos as the favorites since they are 3-1 while Pittsburgh is just 1-3.
The Broncos are on the road and just came off of a rough loss against the Ravens. They will lean on their fourth-ranked overall defense to lead them to a victory against a Steelers team that could potentially be without QB Ben Roethlisberger due to a hip injury.
While the Denver offense has been less than mediocre, it should produce enough points to get the victory in Pittsburgh.
These three NFL betting picks should lead you to a profit. While betting on underdogs is never an easy task, Cleveland and Philadelphia are both in good positions for upsets, while Denver should improve to 4-1.
