Battered Steelers Head to Lambeau
Life doesn’t get a whole lot easier for the beat-up Steelers as they head to Lambeau Field for an afternoon date with the Packers. Pittsburgh and Green Bay are going in opposite directions as the Steelers have dropped two in a row while the Packers have won consecutive games, including a 30-28 comeback win over San Francisco on Sunday night. BetOnline has the spread Green Bay -6.5 (-111), whereas it’s up to 7 (EVEN) at Bovada.

Who is Able to Go for Pittsburgh?
The Bengals were able to pick up their first win at Heinz Field since 2015 with a 24-10 win over the Steelers last Sunday. The story of the game was Pittsburgh trying to fight through injuries, the biggest of which was Ben Roethlisberger, who played through a pectoral injury. Roethlisberger didn’t look the greatest, but the play-calling didn’t exactly help him either, with the veteran QB throwing 58 passes, completing 38 of them with a TD and 2 INT.
Roethlisberger was sacked four times by Cincinnati a week after getting hit ten times against the Raiders. Green Bay is going to put points on the board with these betting odds, so Roethlisberger is going to have to throw the ball a lot again – which simply isn’t sustainable. The Steelers ran the ball 15 times for just 45 yards against the Bengals.
The quarterback isn’t the only guy beat up for Pittsburgh – by far. T.J. Watt (groin), Diontae Johnson (knee), Alex Highsmith (groin), and Carlos Davis (knee) all missed the Bengals matchup, and JuJu Smith-Schuster left during the game with a rib injury. It’s almost astounding these betting lines aren’t giving the Steelers more than 7 points because it’s hard enough to win in Green Bay if healthy.
Green Bay Starting to Groove Again
Aaron Rodgers didn’t even have to pull out the “R-E-L-A-X” card to get Green Bay back to their winning ways. It was close after the Packers looked ugly in a 38-3 season-opening loss to New Orleans at neutral site Jacksonville, but since then, GB has taken down Detroit (35-17) and San Francisco (30-28).
Things were close at Levi Stadium last Sunday night, with Rodgers getting the ball down by 1 with just 37 seconds left but driving into range for a 51-yard FG by Mason Crosby as time expired. Rodgers now has 6 TD and 0 INT the last two weeks after throwing 2 INT vs. the Saints, and Davante Adams has 20 catches for 252 yards the last two games.
We know the Packers’ offense is going to be there in these free NFL picks, but what has Green Bay fans optimistic is that their defense is finally playing better. Giving up 28 points to the 49ers isn’t ideal, but GB also sacked Jimmy Garoppolo 4 times and held San Francisco to 67 rush yards on 21 carries. This comes after shutting out Detroit in week 2, so brighter days may be ahead for the Green Bay defense.
Steelers at Packers Pick
It’s just hard to see how sportsbooks think Pittsburgh can keep this one close at these NFL odds? The Steelers are very banged up, and you need to bring your A-game with a full arsenal of players to win in Green Bay.
This is just the 2nd full capacity game at Lambeau Field since 2019, and it’s an afternoon game which means the beers, brats, and cheese curds will have been flowing for quite a few hours before the 4:25 ET kickoff. Just a tough spot for the Steelers.
