New Orleans Saints Betting Preview
The Saints weren’t expected to come away with a win last Sunday. In fact, they were 4 point underdogs, according to most sportsbooks. When Jameis Winston took the field, he looked like the guy that played for Florida State a few seasons ago, rather than the guy who started for the Bucs and threw 30 interceptions in a single season.
Winston finished Sunday’s game with 148 yards and five touchdowns on 14/20 passing. Completing 70% of your passes and throwing for five touchdowns is a solid way to impress a coaching staff and a fanbase that is used to watching Drew Brees sling it all over the field.
The Saints defense also came to play on Sunday and was able to pick Aaron Rodgers off twice in one of the worst starts of his career. The Saints come out of NFL Week 1 with the 2nd ranked offense and the top-ranked defense.
Carolina Panthers Betting Preview
Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold didn’t have a five touchdown week, but he did have a solid NFL Week 1 campaign. He completed 68.6% of his passes for 279 yards and a touchdown on zero interceptions. A solid opening campaign for his new team.
Christian McCaffrey picked up right where he left off in the three starts he was able to make last season. He totaled 187 yards from scrimmage on the day, just short of a hundred on the ground.
DJ Moore led the receiving core in Week 1. He had six catches on eight targets for 80 yards, but he wasn’t the Panthers receiver that was able to put one in the end zone. Robby Anderson was the only receiver to take one in for 6.
Carolina’s defense was the bigger story on Sunday. They only allowed 14 points on 252 total yards. The Panthers’ defense hit the QB 10 times for six sacks on Sunday. They also forced an interception and a fumble. They had seven deflected passes in NFL Week 1.

The Saints head into their NFLWeek 2 matchup as 3-point favorites in Carolina. The Panthers are at +161 on the moneyline, while the Saints are only at -181. The game total is set at 45 points with even odds on both sides.

Saints Move to 2-0
If Jameis Winston continues to play the way he did in NFL Week 1, it will be difficult for anyone to beat them. Sean Payton seems to have re-invented the young QB.
Winston shows his dominance again in NFL Week 2, and the Saints win and cover with ease. Take the Saints at -3 on the road as your NFL pick for this matchup.
