The Bears got the job done at home in Week 1 against the 49ers. It was not a pretty game, but a win is a win.
QB Justin Fields went 8-17 with 121 yards and an interception. But he made up for it with one touchdown.
Fields added 28 yards on 11 rushes. His dual-threat rushing success helped balance out his underwhelming passing numbers.
Khalil Herbert rushed for 45 yards to lead the team. He also scored a TD in the win.
But it was the Bears’ defense that stole the show. They forced Trey Lance into throwing an interception and posting a QB rating of 50.3. San Francisco was able to rush at a decent rate, but their rushing yards did not translate into many points on the scoreboard.
Chicago’s defense will need to step up if they want to be the Packers. The Bears’ offense isn’t going to lead them to a win. However, containing Aaron Rodgers is much easier said than done.
But the Vikings were able to contain Green Bay, so the Bears would be smart to take a page out of their book.
Betting on Green Bay Packers
Many people expected the Packers to come into Minnesota and win. And if they were to end up losing, everyone expected a competitive game.
Instead, the Packers lost 23-7.
Minnesota jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first half. Green Bay answered with a third-quarter touchdown, and that was all they were able to muster on offense.
Aaron Rodgers did not play all that bad, but his receiver didn’t help him out. Rodgers threw for 195 passing yards on 22-34 passing. But he didn’t record a TD and threw an interception.
The Packers rushing strategy was peculiar, to say the least. Aaron Jones, a star running back, tallied just five rushes but posted 49 yards. Meanwhile, AJ Dillon rushed for 45 yards on ten carries.
One would imagine that Jones will get more carries moving forward. Green Bay needs to properly utilize their rushing attack against Chicago.
Aaron Rodgers unleashed a deep pass to wide receiver Christian Watson early in the game. He was wide open but dropped the ball. That was just one of a number of drops on the day.
The Packers will be in line to defeat the Bears if they clean up their mistakes.
