The Best Bets for Saturday, March 12th
The Duke Blue Devils and Virginia Tech Hokies prepare to battle in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday night.
Virginia Tech continued their run of upsetting the odds as they defeated North Carolina 72-59. Not many people paid attention to the Hokies entering this tournament, but they have played well and now find themselves competing for a chance to win it all.
As for Duke, just about everybody pegged them as the favorites in the ACC tournament. And so far, that has stood true. But Miami (FL) made things interesting on Friday as they forced the Blue Devils to fight as hard as possible to earn the victory.
Duke ended up escaping with a four-point win, but Miami had to have felt good about their overall performance.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 P.M. EST on Saturday, March 12th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Betting Odds
Both Virginia Tech and Duke have battled their way through to the tournament to reach this point. Winning it this season means a bit more for Duke, given the fact that it is Coach K’s final season. But the Hokies would love to spoil the good times for the Blue Devils on Saturday night in Brooklyn.
The Hokies entered Friday’s affair with North Carolina listed as around a 3-point underdog according to most top sportsbooks. But that did not bother them in the least, and they ended up turning that into a 72-59 victory.
The duo of Darius Maddox and Keve Aluma teamed up to lead Virginia tech to the win. Maddox scored 20 to pace the Hokies while also adding six boards. Aluma tallied 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists in an all-around solid performance.
The Hokies also turned the ball over just seven times compared to their 14 total assists on the night. There is no question that this is a team worth taking seriously moving forward. They are playing some of their best basketball right now, and the Blue Devils will not be able to take them for granted.
Duke also was not able to take Miami for granted on Friday. Despite entering as around 8-9 point spread favorites, the Blue Devils ended up winning by a competitive 80-76 final score.
A.J. Griffin stepped up and led Duke in scoring with 21 points to his credit. Wendell Moore Jr. added 17 points while Paolo Banchero finished with an impressive 18 point, 11 rebound double-double.
It was a tale of two stories in terms of finding the bottom of the net for Duke on Friday. On the one hand, they shot an even 50 percent from the field and dominated in the paint. On the other hand, the Blue Devils mustered a measly 26.3 percent from beyond the arc.
The only consistent three-point shooter in the game was Griffin, who hit four of his six attempts. Moore Jr. was the only other Blue Devil to even hit a shot from long range.
Duke also finished with one more turnover than assist in the game.
Although this was far from their most efficient performance of the season, a win is a win, and Duke still finds themselves playing today for the ACC tournament championship.
Best Betting Odds to Bet Online
Duke is listed as a fairly heavy favorite, but Virginia Tech has consistently proven this tournament that they clearly don’t care about spreads. The Hokies have the potential to upset the odds without question, but that will be decided based on how Duke plays. If they are able to find more efficiency overall, they will cover this spread.
How To Bet On: Duke Blue Devils vs. Virginia Tech Hokies NCAAB Betting lines
The majority of top sportsbooks favor Duke by six points, as listed above. But the Hokies have the talent to make that score closer.
As aforementioned, I fully believe this is Duke’s game to lose. If they are unable to hit shots from deep and struggle in the assist-turnover battle again, then there is a good chance that the Hokies upset the spread odds. But if the Blue Devils go out and perform up to their capabilities, then they will get the job done.
I would expect there to be a little extra fire behind this team in Coach K’s final ACC Championship Game as well.

Pick: Kansas -1.5
Kansas should be able to cover in what should be a highly entertaining contest throughout.
- Kentucky -2.5
- Tennessee +2.5
Pick: Tennessee +2.5
Tennessee has a talented team that tends to fly under the radar. Kentucky also features plenty of skill, but they have shown some holes on the roster. This is a good opportunity to take a risk and roll with Tennessee as the underdog.
