When looking at the betting trends in the NBA Finals, it’s difficult to say that those are the most important. However, a few betting trends will be a great indication of what we’ll be able to pick below. Both of these teams have been able to get the job done all playoff long regardless of where the game is played, which could make this one someone interesting. At the end of the day, we’re going to have to use our basketball knowledge to make the best available pick and possibly even take the spread.
Betting on Golden State Warriors
What else really needs to be said right now about the Golden State Warriors? What this team has been able to through throughout the past few seasons is nothing short of impressive, and their front office has to get a ton of credit for the success they’re currently finding.
Many fans and media members thought the Golden State Warriors could make some trades throughout the NBA trade deadline to go out and get another guy. If anybody is still saying things like that, they’re clearly not watching the same game that everybody else is. The Warriors have been able to get contributions out of nearly every rotational guy as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney, and others have all been a huge factor in the Warriors’ success.
Golden State has managed to play great basketball the last two games, and that’s helped them take a 3-2 series lead. They came away with a 10-point win in both of their last games and did so in game 4, which was held in Boston. This could be an indication that the Warriors are going to win another one in Boston on Thursday, but the Celtics have looked great on their home court, and that’s something we’re going to have to think about.
Surprisingly, these games have been somewhat high-scoring for the Warriors. Considering that both of these teams have two of the better defenses in the league, this was certainly a surprise to many. The Warriors have been able to hold the Boston Celtics under 100 points in their previous two games, and that will once again be the recipe for their success.
The Warriors are obviously going to come out and be able to put points on the board at a high level. They’re one of the best offensive teams in the league, and if they can continue playing defense as they have, the Boston Celtics have virtually no chance of winning this one. Stephen Curry has been incredible for the Golden State Warriors throughout the series but had a bad game in game 5. That was probably going to be his only bad game of the series, which the Celtics did not capitalize on.
Betting on Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have had their backs up against the wall all season long. Despite being arguably the best team in the NBA for the year’s second half, the first part of the season was no walk in the park for Boston. The playoffs were also tough for them in certain moments as they had a 3-2 deficit against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks and were able to come back and win that series. Boston also had a seven-game series against Miami, which they also won.
This series does feel just a bit different. The Miami Heat weren’t a better team than Boston, and it was surprising that they brought them to seven games. It was also interesting that Milwaukee brought Boston to seven games despite not having Khris Middleton out there for any of those seven games. If Middleton was playing, there’s a chance that Boston wouldn’t even be in the position that they’re currently in. Anyways, this Golden State Warriors team doesn’t have any injuries that the Celtics are going to be able to capitalize on.
If Boston is going to force a game 7 in this one, it’s going to start on the defensive side of the ball. In the games that they were able to win against the Golden State Warriors, they did a great job defensively. The only way that Boston is going to be an elite team throughout the next two games, if there is a game 7, is if they’re going to be able to continue being the best defensive team in the NBA just like they were all throughout the year.
Another major factor in this game is going to be if Jason Tatum can step up for them. He hasn’t necessarily had any games throughout this series where he truly looks like the best player on the court. For a guy who people are claiming to be a top-five player in the NBA, he needs to step up. He had a decent game in game 5 of this series, scoring 27 points on 50% shooting.
However, for a guy that’s getting claimed as a top-five player in the NBA, he needs to be much better. He saw what Stephen Curry is doing to him right now, and he also said what Giannis Antetokounmpo did last season.
Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics Picks and Predictions
This is going to be one of the more difficult NBA finals games of the series to predict. The reason behind this is that it feels like the Golden State Warriors have all the momentum in the world, but the Boston Celtics have just been incredible throughout the entire year when their backs are up against the wall. If this trend is going to continue, Boston will likely force a game 7.
Once they force a game 7, anything is truly possible. However, our focus is on game 6 right now, and it’s going to be tough to predict who’s going to win this game. Our best pick for the night is going to be taking the Golden State Warriors on the spread at +4 for -110 odds. If the Warriors are going to find a way to lose this game, it will likely be a close match-up. Personally, we like the Golden State Warriors to win this game outright and become the NBA champions, but let’s go safe here and take them with the +4.
Considering the odds that we can still get on the spread, it feels like a good time to take the Warriors. This Warriors team has way too much experience to come out in a clinching NBA Finals game and throw up a stinker. Boston, on the other hand, might not be ready for this moment, and although they have responded well to adversity throughout the year, that could change on Thursday.
The key to this matchup is going to be Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum. Whichever superstar ends up playing the best is likely going to end up winning this game. Jayson Tatum has to prove to everybody that what he’s done throughout these first five games is just him not playing his best basketball. He needs to come out and show everybody that he’s one of the best in the world, and there’s no better time to do so than now.
