Odds, Picks and Predictions
- The New York Yankees are 51-58 against the run line so far this season.
- The Seattle Mariners are 55-55 against the run line so far this year.
- The Yankees are 25-28 against the run line when playing on the road.
- The Mariners are 22-32 against the run line when playing at their home ballpark.
- Seattle is 39-25 against the run line as an underdog this year.
- New York is 45-56 against the run line as a favorite this year.
The New York Yankees (70-39) will travel to Seattle to take on the Mariners (59-51) in a three-game series this week.
For what seems like the first time all year, the Yankees are actually playing underwhelming baseball. New York has dropped five consecutive games heading into Monday.
They dropped two games against the Mariners at home last week before getting swept by the Cardinals in St. Louis this week.
Seattle has played a decent brand of baseball as of late. They have won three of their past five games and are 5-5 in their past ten contests overall. But they made a statement against these Yankees last week in New York.
This series should be exciting. The Yankees are trying to get back on track, while the Mariners will attempt to prove they truly belong in the contenders’ conversation.
Monday’s First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM PST on Monday, August 8th, at T-Mobile Field in Seattle.
New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners Odds
Teams | Moneyline | Total | Run Line |
Yankees | -117 | O/7.5 | -1.5 |
Mariners | +107 | U/7.5 | +1.5 |
The Yankees, despite their recent losing ways, are still favored to win this game. New York is still one of MLB’s best teams and should not be taken for granted.
But there is no question that Seattle is catching them at the right time. The Mariners will have a chance to upset the odds.
New York is a slight favorite with a -117 moneyline. Hammering their moneyline may seem risky, but this is a Yankees ball club worth trusting even with their losing streak.
The over/under is a bit low. But that’s a product of the strong pitching matchup, which we will discuss later. So which team should you take with your betting selection on Monday?
Can the Yankees cover the run line on the road, or will the Mariners upset the odds in Seattle?

New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners Betting Preview
New York Yankees Preview
The Yankees are aiming to end their losing streak as soon as possible. We can expect them to come out firing on all cylinders to open this series on Monday.
Their recent series against the Cardinals was an odd one.
They narrowly lost each game. However, they scored just three total runs through the first two games. In Game Three, they posted nine runs but lost the game 12-9.
They simply were not able to find ways to win like they have all season. It was a frustrating weekend for New York.
But this is still a very talented ball club. They rank 14th in batting average. Second in OBP, first in slugging percentage, first in runs scored, and first in home runs. Pitching-wise, they are third in team ERA, third in WHIP, eighth in home runs allowed, and third in batting average against.
New York will look to return to their balanced ways in Seattle.
RHP Jameson Taillon (10-2, 3.96) is the scheduled starter for the Yankees. The right-hander has been solid for the team.
Seattle Mariners Preview
The Mariners have the Yankees right where they want them. Seattle can add another loss onto the Yankees losing streak with a victory on Monday.
The Mariners most recently split a four-game series with the Angels at home. Seattle would have liked to at least win the four-game set against the lowly Angels, but a split isn’t the worst-case scenario.
Seattle enters Monday ranked just 25th in team batting average, 19th in slugging percentage, and 21st in runs scored. However, they are 13th in OBP and 12th in home runs.
Meanwhile, they are seventh in team ERA, seventh in WHIP, 28th in home runs allowed, and 10th in batting average against.
So their pitching has carried them in 2022 for the most part. And the addition of Luis Castillo will only help that narrative. But the Mariners do have some talented hitters more than capable of getting the job done.
Seattle will send RHP Logan Gilbert (10-4, 3.09) to the mound in this contest. The young hurler has been effective this year. He will look to shut down this deep Yankees lineup.
Injury Report
For the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton remains on the IL with Achilles tendinitis. His timetable is still fairly unclear.
Recently acquired Harrison Bader is on the IL with right foot plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a difficult injury to create a timetable around, but New York is hopeful he can return sometime in late August or September.
The Yankees also have a number of players on the 60-day IL, including Michael King, Luis Severino, Chad Green, and more.
For the Mariners, Dylan Moore and Julio Rodriguez are both on the 10-day IL. Moore is dealing with back spasms while Rodriguez is suffering from a wrist contusion. Neither injury is considered all that serious, and the Mariners believe Moore and Rodriguez can return sooner rather than later.
Relievers Diego Castillo and Ken Giles are on the 15-day IL.
The Mariners have a number of other IL players as well. Getting healthy ahead of the final stretch run will be imperative for this ball club.
New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners Picks and Predictions
This projects to be a good game. Seattle is playing better as of late, but the Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball.
In the end, I do see the Yankees bouncing back and earning a win. They are simply too good of a team to keep down for long.
The Pick:
Roll with the New York Yankees -1.5 in this Monday night ball game.
