The Mets head into Tuesday fresh off of a disappointing offensive performance. But their lineup has been productive for the most part in 2022.
The Mets are ranked fifth in batting average, second in OBP, 10th in slugging percentage, fourth in runs scored, and 16th in home runs.
Their pitching has been impressive as well. They are ranked fifth in team ERA, fifth in WHIP, 18th in home runs surrendered, and ninth in batting average against.
Their pitching rotation is deep, with a pair of co-aces in Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer leading the charge. Scherzer pitched on Monday, and deGrom was originally scheduled to pitch on Tuesday.
But the Mets decided to roll with Taijuan Walker instead and push deGrom back. So Walker (10-3, 3.36) will look to pitch well for the Mets on Tuesday.
From a betting standpoint, the Mets have been effective. Their overall 68-56 against the run line record stands out.

The Yankees have won a couple of games in a row, and one has to wonder if they are heating back up. They were MLB’s best team through the first half of the season before a difficult last two weeks. But they are beginning to trend in the right direction.
On the season, they are 19th in batting average, fourth in OBP, third in slugging, second in runs, and first in home runs. Meanwhile, they are third in team ERA, second in WHIP, eighth in home runs allowed, and third in batting average against.
For most teams, their recent tough stretch would simply be what is… a slump. But for the Yankees and their fans, they have it made out to be the end of the world. But the fact is that they are still extremely talented and will be fine moving forward.
It should be noted that they have not been great against the run line. They are 20 games under .500 against the run line when listed as a favorite this year.
Nevertheless, Frankie Montas (4-10, 3.87) will aim to change that narrative and lead the Yankees to a win on the mound. Montas has labored since heading to New York. Some players falter under the bright lights of NY.
But the Yankees are hopeful he will find his footing soon and turn things around.
Injury Report
The Mets have a number of injuries at the moment. Notably, Carlos Carrasco is on the injured list with an oblique injury. Eduardo Escobar is also dealing with an oblique injury as well.
Other injured Mets include Luis Guillorme, Tommy Hunter, Drew Smith, and a number of others.
For the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton is expected to rejoin the team on Thursday in Oakland. Stanton’s bat will add a major boost to the lineup.
Clay Holmes is also expected to return fairly soon. But Scott Effross joined him on the IL on Monday with a shoulder strain.
So the Yankees are dealing with a few different positives and negatives in reference to their injured list at the moment.

Tuesday’s game should be another competitive contest. The Mets and Yankees are evenly matched.
Had Jacob deGrom pitched as he was originally projected to, the Mets would probably upset the odds on Tuesday. Walker is a good pitcher, but he is not Jacob deGrom.
The Yankees are going to head into this game feeling relieved that they missed deGrom. As a result, they may tear the cover off the ball against Walker.
I actually expect this game to be fairly low-scoring. But expect the Yankees to put up some early runs and take control early in the game.
