Betting Analysis For New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins

New Jersey Devils Betting Stats & Analysis

The Devils were victorious against the Washington Capitals Sunday by a score of 4-3 that was decided in overtime. The Devils came out red hot, scoring the opening two goals in the first period, just a minute and a half apart.

Both teams would go back and forth before the Capitals would eventually tie it up with under four minutes of regulation in the third period. Nico Hischier was able to score the game-winner with two minutes left of the overtime period to give the Devils the win.

Notable COVID situations within the Devils organization are from Jimmy Vesey and Tomas Tatar. Both players will miss tonight’s contest because of COVID protocols.

For tonight’s contest, defenseman Dougie Hamilton is listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury. He is currently third on the team in points with 20.

The Devils’ offense is right around league average, scoring 2.88 goals per game. Jesper Bratt and Andreas Johnsson are leading the team in offensive statistics.

Bratt is the team’s points leader with 29 points, scoring nine goals and assisting on 20 others. Johnsson is right behind him with 21 points, scoring nine goals, and assisting on 12 others.

Mackenzie Blackwood has been the main goaltender for the Devils since the return. On the season, he has a record of 8-6-1 and is giving up 3.22 goals per game.

Since his return, he is 3-0 and is giving up 3.6 goals per game. If the Devils’ offense can stay as good as they have been and Blackwood can continue to improve, the Devils may have a fighter’s chance in tonight’s contest.

Boston Bruins Betting Stats & Analysis

As previously mentioned, the Bruins were able to win their last contest against the Red Wings by a score of 5-1. Detroit came out early and scored the first goal of the game to give the Red Wings their only lead of the night.

The Bruins would go on to score the next five goals. Boston has a big third period, scoring three goals in a matter of five minutes of play.

Karson Kuhlman is the only player listed on the Bruins injury report that is dealing with COVID issues. Curtis Lazar, who played on the New Year’s Day game, is listed as questionable for tonight’s contest due to an undisclosed injury.

Outside of those two players, the rest of the Bruins team seems very healthy, which also gives them a big advantage.

The Bruins’ offense is led by two veterans in Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Marchand is leading the team in points with 30 total, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 19 others.

Bergeron is second in points with 24 total, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 13 others. The Bruins’ offense is averaging 2.82 goals per game, but in the two games back from the break, they have averaged 4.5 goals.

Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark split starts at goaltender for the Bruins. Swayman has a record of 8-5-1 and is giving up 2.21 goals per game. Ullmark is 8-5 and is giving up 2.55 goals per game.

One of the best duos in hockey, these two goaltenders are kept the Bruins above water; hopefully, the offense can continue to provide relief with the goal scoring.
