Betting Analysis For Edmonton Oilers at Colorado Avalanche
Edmonton Oilers Betting Stats & Analysis
The Oilers have always been offense-first this season, scoring at one of the highest rates of any team in the NHL. Unfortunately, with that comes an issue with the defensive side of the game, which is what happened Tuesday.
The Oilers were able to score two goals in all three periods on Tuesday. On most nights, that would win a hockey game by more than one goal.
On Tuesday night, however, six goals were not going to be good enough. The Oilers allowed the Avalanche to score eight goals in regulation, with four of them coming in the second period alone.
Connor McDavid came into game one and did not slow down one bit, adding a goal and two assists. He is now up to 29 total points, scoring eight goals and assisting on 21 others.
Leon Draisaitl was also able to get in on the action and keep McDavid close to him in terms of total points. With two assists Tuesday, Draisaitl is up to 28 total points, scoring seven goals and assisting on 21 others.
Mike Smith has had better nights between the goal posts. Six goals were the most he has let in since December of last year.
Luckily for Smith, losing game one of the series is nothing new, as they have lost game one in both of their prior series this season. Heading into game two tonight, Smith has to be better, or the Avalanche will make this a quick series.
If there was any good news from the game, it looks like everyone made it out safely, and there will be no lineup changes for tonight’s game for the Oilers.
Colorado Avalanche Betting Stats & Analysis
After an extra couple of days of rest, the Avalanche looked like the best team in hockey, like they were all season. They were bigger, faster, and stronger all evening.
The first period was a little back-and-forth, with two lead changes in the 20 minutes of play. The Avalanche got the last goal of the period and held a 3-2 lead heading into the second period.
The Avalanche scored again to open the second period, less than a minute into the period, and never looked back. While the Oilers tried to play catchup, the Avalanche firepower was in full force, going on to record their first eight-goal playoff game of the season.
After a slow series against the Blues, Cale Makar made his presence felt immediately in this series. On Tuesday, Makar added a goal and two assists to get his total to a team-high 16 points.
Nathan MacKinnon got right back into the mix as well, scoring a goal and adding an assist. He is right behind Makar with 15 total points, scoring nine goals and assisting on six others.
Darcy Kuemper is the big talk of the Avalanche and going forward. After leaving the game early Tuesday, no one knows the severity of his injury as well as if he will even be available for tonight’s contest.
Kuemper was late coming out of the locker room after the first period and then left completely after the first tv timeout in the second period. While there was no visible reason for him leaving the game, the Avalanche have to hope he is available quickly.
