So far this season, some NFL teams managed to surprise us with their results. Let’s see who can be Week 3’s surprise.
Three NFL Teams On Upset Watch In Week 3
Through two weeks of NFL action, several teams have begun to separate themselves from their competition with impressive starts to the season.
But those remarkable starts could lend themselves to a distorted view of those teams when making NFL picks. In NFL Week 3, several prime candidates for upsets include teams that have started the season with a couple of wins.
TOP #3 Sports Betting Sites to Bet on NFL
Miami Dolphins +4.5 @ Las Vegas Raiders
One of the core tenets of NFL betting is to not overreact to what happened the week prior, as things can change so much from one week to the next.
A perfect example of that comes in this week’s matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders.
With the Raiders looking great to start the season, and Miami struggling last week, the fact that the point spread isn’t bigger here is telling.
Last week, the Miami Dolphins were blown out by a margin of 35-0 against the Buffalo Bills. To make matters worse, their starting quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa suffered broken ribs.
As a result, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett is tasked with starting this week against the 2-0 Raiders.
Normally, a backup quarterback playing on the road would be a real concern in the NFL. But Brissett isn’t a backup quarterback cut from the same cloth as someone like Davis Mills.
He has started games in New England and Indianapolis in the past and shouldn’t crumble in this winnable game for the Dolphins against the Raiders.
Chicago Bears +7.5 @ Cleveland Browns
One of the most difficult tasks for an NFL defense is to play well against a quarterback who doesn’t have much game film available.
This week, the Cleveland Browns will have to do just that against the Chicago Bears, as rookie quarterback Justin Fields is playing for Chicago due to an injury to Andy Dalton.
Fields, while inexperienced, could give the Bears the spark they need to compete with an explosive Browns’ squad.
According to BetUS, the Browns are 7.5-point favorites heading into this game against Chicago. But Cleveland was having issues against Tyrod Taylor and the Texans last week before Taylor suffered an injury and Davis Mills had to step in.
Fields have plenty of big-game experience from his time at Ohio State and could improve the Chicago offense compared to the way it has played with Dalton under center.
Also concerning for the Browns in this game is the loss of Jarvis Landry. Landry has been Baker Mayfield’s stop target in the passing game since Odell Beckham has gone down injured.
And even though Beckham is set to return this week, Landry’s reliability will be missed in the Cleveland offense.
Indianapolis Colts +5.5 @ Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are the favorites in their AFC South matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, with NFL odds putting the Titans as 5.5-point favorites at home.
Tennessee enters the game at 1-1 on the season, while the Colts come in at 0-2 after a pair of home losses to start the season.
But the Colts are a live dog in this game, thanks mainly to the shaky defense of the Tennessee Titans.
So far this year, the Titans have allowed roughly 400 yards per game on defense and 34 points per game to their opponents.
Had the Seattle Seahawks not blown a double-digit lead to them in Week 2, Tennessee would be in the same 0-2 hole that the Colts find themselves in right now.
While Indianapolis has plenty of flaws of its own, the Tennessee defense is the weakest unit in this contest, and the Colts could win this game outright as a result.
