Three NFL Teams On Upset Watch In Week 2
The first week of the NFL season saw a boatload of upsets from underdogs, with plenty of those underdogs winning outright. Week 2 could see a similar wave of underdogs winning, as bettors will have to respect plenty of teams that are not favored when making their NFL picks.
These particular teams have to be careful not to get upset in Week 2 action, as they are in spots that could lend themselves to being beaten.
TOP #3 Sports Betting Sites to Bet on NFL
LA Rams -3.5 @ Indianapolis Colts
The Los Angeles Rams will be one of the most popular teams in the world of NFL betting this week after they destroyed the Chicago Bears in their Week 1 game. Matthew Stafford threw for over 12 yards per pass attempt, and the Rams were able to score touchdowns on multiple deep passes throughout that victory on Sunday Night Football. But they play on the road in Week 2 against a Colts team that could present a matchup problem.
In NFL Week 1, the only real weakness for the Rams was their inability to stop the run, as David Montgomery was able to get chunk yardage in the running game for the Bears. The Colts have a back in Jonathan Taylor who could easily rack up big rushing numbers of his own against the Rams. And if that were to happen, the Colts could keep the ball away from the Rams and make an upset possible.
Also worth noting here is that the Colts’ loss to the Seahawks to open the season was a little misleading. Indianapolis was beaten with multiple deep balls from Russell Wilson to Tyler Lockett. Those kinds of plays are not sustainable, and the Colts should reduce the number of big plays they allow here in Week 2.
Denver Broncos -6 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Last week, the Denver Broncos looked great against the New York Giants, while the Jacksonville Jaguars looked bad against the Houston Texans. Because of that, the Broncos are being looked at as one of the best bets on the board for NFL Week 2. But this game could be a real trap for bettors, as the Jaguars have a legitimate shot to win outright against a road-weary Broncos team.
According to BetUS, the Broncos are six-point favorites against the Jaguars heading into Sunday’s matchup. But Denver is playing its second straight East coast road game, which is a spot that many West coast teams have struggled with historically. Add to that the fact that this will be Jacksonville’s first home game post-pandemic with fans in the stands to watch Trevor Lawrence’s first career start at home, and the Jaguars could pick up a win here.
New England Patriots -6 @ New York Jets
Rookie quarterbacks can be hard to handicap in the NFL, but a game with two rookie quarterbacks is always one where the underdog has a chance to win. Both Mac Jones and Zach Wilson will lead their respective teams into battle for just the second time as professional quarterbacks. And while this week’s NFL odds favor the Patriots, there is no reason to think the Jets can’t get a victory at home.
Both Jones and Wilson were decent in their first career starts in the NFL, but both of their offenses were held under 20 points in Week 1. With this game likely to be a defensive battle, there isn’t as big an edge as the market seems to suggest for the Patriots. This will likely be a one-possession game no matter which side comes out on top, with the Jets being an attractive underdog at their current price with that in mind.
