San Francisco 49ers at Tennessee Titans NFL Analysis, Odds & Picks
The 49ers have won two consecutive games and find themselves in the midst of the NFC Wild Card race heading into Thursday. With the season winding down, they can clinch a postseason spot as long as they keep winning.
The Titans lead the AFC South, but the Colts are hot on their trail. Tennessee’s loss against Pittsburgh last week left the door open for Indianapolis in the division, so the Titans will need a victory and a Colt loss to officially clinch the AFC South this week.
This cross-conference matchup features two postseason contenders in what should make for a terrific Thursday night affair.

San Francisco 49ers Betting Stats & Analysis
The 49ers took care of business against the Falcons last week 31-13. In a game they needed to win, San Francisco performed admirably.
Jimmy Garoppolo threw for a very efficient 18-23 with one touchdown and 235 yards. But Jeff Wilson Jr. carried the offense out of the backfield. The tailback ran for 110 yards to go along with one touchdown.
The defense posted a quality effort by holding Atlanta to just 13 points in the blowout win.
The Niners have played impressive football this year. They are not a team that is going to wow you with any jaw-dropping statistics, but they do a little bit of everything, which always provides them with an opportunity to remain competitive in games.
San Francisco is 13th in points per game with 25.7 and 12th in total yards with 378.5. The key piece to this offense has been WR/RB Deebo Samuel.
Samuel has been about as versatile as it gets on offense with 1,088 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns to go along with 269 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Samuel is especially lethal off of the jet sweep thanks to his intelligence to follow blockers and blazing speed to burn opponents.
From a defensive perspective, the 49ers are 18th in points allowed per game. But they are sixth in total yards surrendered per game and seventh in passing yards surrendered per contest.
They do a tremendous job of limiting long drives despite being right about league average in allowing points.
The Niners look to wrap up a playoff spot with a win on the road in Tennessee.
Tennessee Titans Betting Stats & Analysis
The wheels fell off a bit for Tennessee in a winnable game against Pittsburgh last week.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill never got things going under center with no touchdowns and one interception with only 153 yards through the air. On the bright side, Tannehill was able to score a rushing touchdown.
The Titans running game did a tremendous job of moving the chains. They totaled 201 yards on the ground as a team, with D’Onta Foreman leading the way with 108 rushing yards. But other than the aforementioned Tannehill scrambling score, the running game was unable to find the endzone in the loss.
The rushing game has been the bread and butter for Tennessee all season long. While the offense ranks 15th in points per game, 16th in total yards per game, and 23rd in passing yards per game, they rank fourth in the NFL in rushing yards per contest.
They also rank second in the league in time of possession per game due to their ability to move the chains and hold the football combined with their inability to score on a consistent basis.
Obviously, losing Derrick Henry earlier in the season due to injury hurts the overall run game. It is a big reason why finding the endzone has proved to be difficult. But Foreman and Co. have displayed the ability to hold the position down in his absence.
The good news is that Henry is expected to be back for the playoffs and possibly Week 18 if Tennessee faces a must-win affair.
The Titans are almost the same team on defense. They are mediocre in just about every other category other than rushing yards allowed per game, where they were surrender just 86.93 yards per contest which is good for second in the NFL.
With Indianapolis heating up in recent weeks and just one game behind them in the division standings, Tennessee needs a win on Thursday night.

The 49ers have played an impressive brand of football as of late as they aim to clinch a postseason spot. While this is not a perfect team, they should be able to give the Titans all they can handle on Thursday.
Expect a back-and-forth competitive game in this matchup. But in the end, I like the 49ers to cover the spread and earn the victory.
