The Week 1 of the NFL season was full of surprises. Let’s see what happens in Week 2 as Detroit Lions square off against the Packers in Green Bay.
Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers Betting Preview
This week’s Monday Night Football features NFC North rivals as the Detroit Lions square off against the Packers in Green Bay. All four NFC North teams took an NFL Week 1 loss. The Lions were able to stay with the 49ers for a lot of their game but lost 44-31.
The Packers were completely blown off the field in their Week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. They failed to find the endzone and lost 38-3. Detroit looked a thousand times better than Green Bay in their NFL Week 1 matchups, but we fully expect Aaron Rodgers to rebound in NFL Week 2.
Someone has to come away with an NFC North win this week. The Packers are favored by 12 points heading into the matchup, so it would seem that Vegas expects a Rdogers’ rebound as well. Kickoff is set for 8:15 EST on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

Jared Goff’s Lions Debut
The Lions’ offense looked pretty sharp with Jared Goff under center in NFL Week 1. Goff attempted 57 passes and threw for 338 yards with 3 touchdowns on 1 interception. While it was a solid debut, it wasn’t solid enough to grab the win in their opener.
While the Lions’ offense looked good, Goff was also sacked three times. We anticipate that he will see fewer sacks as Penei Sewell starts to get in a rhythm upfront. They didn’t take OL in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft for Goff to be horizontal all season.
Detroit has to improve on the defensive side of the ball to keep up with Rodgers. Their offense totaled 430 yards in NFL Week 1, but their defense gave up 442 on the day. They gave up the most points in the league and the fourth most yards.
The Lions D was only able to total 1 sack on 3 QB hits. They were able to force and recover 2 fumbles on the day. The only two times that they were able to turn the Niners over. They must rebound against an Aaron Rodgers-led offense on Monday Night Football.
Are We Sure that was Aaron Rodgers?
That’s a serious question. Are we absolutely certain that it wasn’t just someone disguised as Rodgers in Week 1 for the Packers? It was easily one of the worst performances of Rodgers’ elite career. That being said, Rodgers didn’t panic in the post-game presser, assuring fans that there were 16 games left and he will play much better moving forward.
We believe him. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t like to lose two weeks in a row and may be playing for a bit of his pride this week as well. We fully anticipate for Rodgers, Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, and Randall Cobb to all have big games on Monday night.
Regardless of what the Packers’ defense brings on Monday, Green Bay’s offense will likely make it rain. The over on the game total will likely be in play here.
Rodgers’ Rebounds – Packers Win
We are expecting a monster game from Rodgers this week. Not just a good game, but an absolute MONSTER. Green Bay is favored by 12 points according to BetOnline. The game total is set at 48.5 points, and the Lions are at +435 on the Moneyline. There are even (-110) odds on both sides of the spread and the total.
The 2 betting picks in this game are fairly easy. The Packers win a blowout by double digits in a game with little to no defense. Take the over on the game total and the Packers at -12. They win and cover with ease to get back on track.
