Cincinnati Bengals vs. Washington Football Team Betting Preview
NFL Week two of preseason football means more starters are getting reps, and guys’ jobs are on the line. The Bengals and the Washington Football Team set to square off against each other this Friday at 7 pm.
Both teams are looking to make improvements from last season heading into 2021. The Washington Football Team, who finished the season 7-9, were able to find a way to win their division. However, Coach Rivera has made it very known that he thinks his team can be better than that and will need to be if they want to be successful.
The Bengals ended the season with a 4-11-1 record. Losing their quarterback to a torn ACL in NFL week 11, the Bengals were unable to get anything done without him on the field. With some offseason additions and solid draft choices, the Bengals hope 2021 will have better results.

Bengals without Burrow
Joe Burrow, the number one pick in the 2020 draft, will not play again in NFL week two of the preseason. While there have not been any concerning reports to come out of camp about his health, it sounds like the coaching staff is just being careful, which they should. They need to get that offensive line playing better, so they do not have to worry about their prized possession having to scramble every snap.
The Bengals went wide receiver in the 2021 draft, which had a lot of people questioning things, with offensive lineman Pennei Sewell still on the board during their pick. The Bengals took Ja’Marr Chase with their pick, a wide receiver with a ton of upside, and someone, the Bengals, is hoping Burrow can trust when it matters. Mix him with second-year player Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, and this receiving core is top-notch.
Washington has to find a way to score
In the first preseason game, the Washington Football team put up just 13 points. While this is not a cause for concern, as backups filled the lineup for most of the game, this will be what people talk about Washington for. They did go out and get veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who looked good in his few drives, going five for eight passing; the issue is the pieces around him.
The defense for Washington will be what keeps them in games. This team is filled with big-play guys who can go out and make the necessary stops to keep them in the games. With names like Chase Young, Jon Bostic, Kendall Fuller, and Landon Collins, this defense on paper looks great. If the offense can find a way to put points on the board in a less than impressive NFC East, the Washington Football Team has a chance to run the table again and win another division title.
Washington Wins
Without Burrow taking any snaps whatsoever for the Bengals, their offense will struggle against this defense. With this being the second week of a three-week preseason, expect more starters on the defensive side for Washington to get more playing time. Kyle Shurmer and Brandon Allen are in for a long evening under center.
As far as backups on offense, Coach Rivera has a couple of of decisions to make, so it is unlikely that Fitzpatrick sees a ton of time under center again, but more than likely will get more playing time than he did in week one. Look out for this defense to outscore the offense as well.
