The Houston Rockets have lost three straight games and now head to Los Angeles to face the Lakers. Over the course of their last three games, the Houston Rockets offense has been rather sluggish.
They did, however, have to face some of the toughest teams in the NBA Betting. Still, that’s no excuse for their performance, and now, they’ll face one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
Although the Los Angeles Lakers are 3-3, any team with LeBron James is dangerous. It just seems as if the new additions are still finding a way to gel with everyone else.
The Lakers come off a recent win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and prepare to host the Rockets. Los Angeles has a fairly large spread to cover here, so who’s the best bet at the sportsbook?

The Rockets will need a top-tier performance against the Lakers
Of course, in the NBA, any team is capable of snagging a big win.
Unfortunately, through three straight games, we haven’t seen that from the Rockets. Instead, we’ve seen an offense led solely by one player, Christian Wood. Were it not for his effort, the losses the Rockets have suffered would be by larger margins.
Facing Los Angeles means that they’ll be going against an offense that averages 115.50 points per game. The Lakers average the third-most points in the NBA, while the Rockets rank 19th overall.
For any chance at covering the spread, the Houston Rockets need to have a better offensive performance. Something they haven’t had since their game against the Thunder.
How Los Angeles can cover the spread on Sunday night
The Lakers might have a fairly good record on the year, but they aren’t great against the spread. Through six games, the Lakers have gone 2-4 ATS, which doesn’t instill much confidence. They’re heavy favorites against the Rockets and although they’ll likely win, covering the spread is a different game entirely.
When it comes to the Lakers gameplay, we would like to see more cohesion from this group. One of the Lakers’ most glaring issues is that the roster is constantly changing. They released several players who were integral to the flow of the offense and added superstar Russell Westbrook.
Unfortunately, Westbrook’s style doesn’t work quite well with some of the others.
Take a look at this Rockets vs. Lakers NBA spread
The Rockets come into this game as 11.5-point underdogs per BetUS.
Currently, they have two players that will likely be missing the game against the Lakers. Both Danuel House Jr. and Kevin Porter Jr. are listed as “doubtful” for this game. With those two out, it could be difficult to keep the Lakers within twelve points.
On the opposite side, the Lakers have never had to cover this large of a spread. The largest spread they’ve covered thus far is eight points. Coming in -11.5 is going to be tough for an offense that hasn’t found its groove yet.
The good news for the Lakers is they’re playing a defense that allows an average of 112.00 points per game.
Our NBA pick for Rockets vs. Lakers: Los Angeles Lakers -11.5
With BetUS and Bovada having the Lakers favored by 11.5, you won’t get a better spread in this one. Although the Lakers haven’t covered a spread this large yet, they’re the best option. The Rockets have lost each of their last three games by at least ten points.
This leads us to point more in the direction of the Los Angeles Lakers. Even if they haven’t quite ironed out the offense, they’re a better bet against the spread. They’re also the home team which gives them even more of an advantage.
