Kansas City Chiefs vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview
NFL Week 2 in preseason football usually saw starters get a couple of reps and get out of the game. They were never in there for longer than one or two series at most and would never do anything in game to jeopardize their regular season. However, in 2021 there are only three preseason games before the regular season starts.
In this matchup, we have two for sure starting quarterbacks and two premiere wide receiving corps. Now there are a few newcomers on the teams that need the reps with their starters.

Chiefs Try to Find Their Third String Guy
It’s no surprise when you think about a Chiefs game, that good quarterback play is the first thing that comes to mind. However, after their last preseason game, good quarterback play could be about any of the four guys they ran out there to take snaps. Rookie quarterback Anthony Gordon out of Washington State had a really nice game and he was last to get in.
Shane Buechele and Anthony Gordon are battling for that third-string spot. Both in their rookie campaigns and both trying to at least prove themselves worthy of being the backups backup.
For this game, it sounds like Mahomes may get a few more reps on the field. A safe assumption would be the main offensive weapons, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce will also get a few more reps, but nothing overwhelming.
Can the Cardinals Offense Live up to the Expectations
This is the best spot the Cardinals offense has been in since drafting Kyler Murray. He has weapons just about every way he turns his head. With the addition of AJ Green and James Conner, they have solidified one of the most potent offenses if the line can get the job done.
In the first preseason game, Kyler Murray did not take any snaps. In fact, the only guy who touched the football that was a real influential piece of the offense was Chase Edmonds. In his third year in the league, Edmonds and Conner will look to bring both physicality and finesse to the Cardinals backfield.
Jace Whittaker, an undrafted free agent signing in 2020, looked solid during their game against the Cowboys. After spending a season on the practice squad, Whittaker came out and made a huge impression with five tackles, three of them being solo tackles.
The Cardinals rookie wide receiver, second round draft pick Rondale Moore, also looked very competent in the first preseason game. He was able to bring in three of his four targets for 23 yards. That kind of production could really help with the veteran wideouts the team already has.
The Pick is In
So far in the 2021 preseason, the greatest NFL pick a bettor could make is to take the under in the total points category. For this game, the over/under is set at 41. While the starters will get a little playing time in this game, 41 is still a large number for a preseason game. Taking the under in this one is the bet.
The Chiefs are the Moneyline favorite at -130. The Arizona Cardinals are the underdog at +130. Coach Andy Reid for the Chiefs has said that he expects Mahomes to play more in this one. Coach Kingsbury has not disclosed how much he will keep his QB1 Kyler Murray in this one, but with the injuries they are dealing with, it does not seem like it will be a lot. The betting pick for the Moneyline is Kansas City Chiefs -130.
