Betting Odds & Lines

BetUs currently has the Golden Knights as the moneyline favorite at -135. They have the Oilers at +115.

Over at BetOnline, they have Vegas as the favorite as well at -132. Both sportsbooks have the goal total of 6½.

Edmonton Tries to Stay Perfect

A 4-0 start is exactly how any team would want to start their season. One of the best offenses in all of hockey last season, the Oilers were unable to get past the first round of the playoffs last season. The Oilers have one goal in mind this NHL season, and that is a deep postseason run.

The 2020 Edmonton Oilers finished the season in second place in their division, with the two highest point totals in all of hockey. Their biggest issue was their inability to win the big game. In their final five games against the Maple Leafs, who won the division, they went 1-4.

The duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are back to their ways, leading the Oilers in points to start the season. McDavid is leading the team with 11 points, scoring six goals, and assisting on five others. Draisaitl is right behind him at eight points, scoring two goals and assisting on six others.

Getting Back on Track in Vegas

Vegas came out and won their season opener against the Seattle Kraken by a score of 4-3. Since that victory, Vegas has been on the losing side of two straight. Vegas took a 2-6 loss to the Kings and a 1-3 loss to the Blues. The offense has struggled to get going again after the four-goal season opener.

The 2020 Golden Knights team was tied for the top spot in the West Division at the end of the regular season. They made an impressive postseason run but fell short in the semi-finals to the Montreal Canadiens. With that playoff experience, Vegas has to hope they can find a way to repeat that in 2021.

The Golden Knights currently have three players tied at three points to lead the team. Mark Stone has three assists, Chandler Stephenson has two goals and an assist, and Max Pacioretty has two goals and an assist. Stephenson and Pacioretty are the only players on the team that have scored multiple goals.

Goaltender Matchup

The Oilers have started Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith in goal. Koskinen is 2-0 to start the season after beating the Coyotes last night. He is giving up 1.37 goals per game. Smith is 2-0 as well, giving up 3.08 goals per game.

Robin Lehner has started all three games for the Golden Knights. He is currently 1-2 and giving up 3.41 goals per game. He has struggled in his last two games, giving up six goals combined.

The Pick

The Oilers played their first game on the road last night and did not have any issues. They came out red hot and were able to score five goals.

Vegas has to hope their offense can get going again. Going up against one of the best in the league, scoring one goal will more than likely not be enough.

When making your NHL picks, take the Edmonton Oilers +115.
