Betting Odds to Win the Stanley Cup

The 2021-22 NHL Season is set to begin on Tuesday, October 21, and there’s no better time than now to play a futures bet for the 2022 Stanley Cup Champion!

Here, we’ve broken down into tiers a full list of Stanley Cup odds for each team. All hockey betting odds come from BetUS.

Cup Favorites

  • Colorado Avalanche +400
  • Tampa Bay Lightning +500
  • Vegas Golden Knights +750
  • Boston Bruins +1200
  • Toronto Maple Leafs +1200

The two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions are out to become the first team to win three consecutive Stanley Cups since the New York Islanders won four in a row from 1980-83. Colorado is the Western Conference favorite to stop them, but the Vegas Golden Knights are always a tough team to beat.

Boston and Toronto are interesting plays here, but there is a strong likelihood they play each other early in the playoffs. The Maple Leafs also haven’t won a playoff series since before the 2004-05 lockout.

Cup Contenders

  • Carolina Hurricanes +1400
  • New York Islanders +1800
  • Florida Panthers +2000
  • Edmonton Oilers +2200
  • New York Rangers +2200

Carolina’s roster looks considerably different this season with no returning goaltenders and three of their top six defenseman newcomers to the roster. The Islanders finished as the Eastern Conference runner-up each of the last two seasons, and with a nearly identical roster this year, they’re once again a threat for a deep run.

Florida’s success or failure will ultimately come down to their goaltending. If Sergei Bobrovsky can live up to his $10 million per year cap hit and rookie Spencer Knight can help to shoulder the load, the Panthers are a dark horse to win the Cup.

Edmonton has the ever-dangerous tandem of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, but have they done enough defensively to address their issues from the past three seasons?

The Rangers are a young team loaded with talent, and though their path to the Finals would be tough, they have game-breaking star power in Artemi Panarin capable of spurring a deep run.

Cup Hopefuls

  • Dallas Stars +2500
  • Minnesota Wild +2500
  • Pittsburgh Penguins +2500
  • Washington Capitals +2500
  • Philadelphia Flyers +3000
  • Montreal Canadiens +4000
  • Seattle Kraken +4000
  • Winnipeg Jets +4000

Dallas and Minnesota could end up playing each other in the first round of the playoffs, and if so, that would be a fantastic series to watch. Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov won the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie last season while Dallas’ Jason Robertson was the runner-up. And there’s always bad blood between the two clubs, given the history of how Dallas got their team together…

Similarly, Pittsburgh and Washington could meet in the first round as well. The Penguins will need better goaltending from Tristan Jarry this season (and more so in the postseason) if they are to win it all. The Capitals have one of the oldest rosters in the league but a young goaltending tandem in Ilya Samsonov and Vítek Vaněček.

Philadelphia, Seattle, and Winnipeg all have big questions on their roster. The Flyers missed the playoffs last season due to poor goaltending while the Jets’ defensive group may have been the worst in the league last season. Meanwhile, Seattle is a first-year club as the league’s newest team. Can they replicate the Vegas Golden Knights’ early success?

Cup Longshots

  • Calgary Flames +5000
  • St. Louis Blues +5000
  • Nashville Predators +5500
  • Vancouver Canucks +6000
  • Los Angeles Kings +6000
  • Chicago Blackhawks +6600
  • New Jersey Devils +8000
  • Ottawa Senators +8000
  • San Jose Sharks +8000

St. Louis and Nashville are the only teams in this tier to have made the playoffs last season. The Blues feel a bit out of place here, as their roster is mostly intact, but with Vladimir Tarasenko wanting out, St. Louis’ hopes could disappear if he is actually moved.

Conversely, Nashville only made the playoffs last season because of a brilliant stretch of goaltending from Juuse Saros. With a precarious roster this season, including star Filip Forsberg being a trade deadline target for contending teams, the Predators would need to find the offense they didn’t have last season to win it all.

In Need of a Miracle

  • Columbus Blue Jackets +10000
  • Anaheim Ducks +15000
  • Arizona Coyotes +15000
  • Detroit Red Wings +20000
  • Buffalo Sabres +25000

We’re not going to tell you how to spend your money, and if you want to throw darts, fire away. Teams in this tier are much more likely to end up with a top five draft pick than a playoff spot, but anything can happen in the NHL Odds, and with a load of luck, even the teams in this tier could find some magic.
