Yes, the Chargers ran a rookie quarterback out on the offensive side of the ball all season. No, he was not the greatest quarterback in his rookie year. He was able to lead the offense to 24 points per game, which kept his offense outside the bottom ten in the league for points scored.

The defense, however, gave up 26 points per game and was in the bottom 10 in that category. While the offseason could have been used to try and bolster the defense, the Chargers went a different route. The Chargers revamped their entire offensive line and will try to make sure they can keep their QB1, Justin Herbert, healthy and playing.

Without Herbert under center, the Chargers will send out Chase Daniel and Easton Stick. While both quarterbacks are viable options at a time of need, going against a team that is still working to find their quarterback will be a little more complicated.

The 49ers have to use this second game to solidify what they are going to do going forward. If they do not have a starter before week three of the preseason, that makes that last week of training camp much more stressful.
