Bears to Face Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders try to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they host the Chicago Bears in a NFL Week 5 matchup on Sunday. The kickoff of this game is scheduled for 4:05 pm ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Chicago has been up and down this season, alternating between wins and losses to come into this one with a 2-2 record. The Bears are in second place in the NFC North, trailing the first-place Green Bay Packers by one game.

The Raiders are among three teams in the AFC West tied for the top spot with a 3-1 mark after falling to the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The Chargers are one of the teams with a 3-1 record, along with the Denver Broncos, with the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs just a game behind at 2-2.

Las Vegas is a six-point favorite at home on the BetUS Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 45.5 points. You can get the Raiders with a moneyline of -250, while the Bears are available at +210.

The Bears are getting a little more respect from Betonline, where they’re only 5.5-point underdogs. The over/under is 46 on that sportsbook, with the Raiders getting a -243 moneyline and Chicago listed at +203.

New Era?

The Bears have said that rookie quarterback Justin Fields will be the starter for the rest of the season, and the former Ohio State star is hoping to get the team turned around. Fields made tremendous improvement last week after a nightmare of a first NFL Odds start against the Cleveland Browns, a game in which the Bears managed just 47 yards, and Fields was sacked nine times.

Against Detroit last week, Fields completed 11-of-17 passes for 209 yards and an interception in a 24-14 Chicago win. He’ll likely need to have an even bigger role in this one, with running back David Montgomery (309 yards, three TDs) sidelined with a knee injury.

Damien Williams is expected to take over for Montgomery, and he rushed for 55 yards, and a touchdown on just eight carries a week ago.

A big subplot to this game is Bears linebacker Khalil Mack playing against his former team. Mack is expected to go despite rib and foot injuries that had him listed as questionable. Mack has four sacks this season, while Robert Quinn has 4.5, making Chicago the only team in the NFL Betting with two players with at least four sacks.

Bounce Back

The Raiders couldn’t stop the passing game of the Chargers on Monday Night Football, falling for the first time this season. Las Vegas should have an easier time against Fields, though it can’t take him lightly either.

Offensively, quarterback Derek Carr has been very good this season, passing for 1,399 yards and eight touchdowns. Unfortunately, he’s also been sacked 12 times, a number that could go up against Chicago if he doesn’t get better protection.

The Las Vegas running game has been virtually non-existent, with the team managing a total of 322 yards over four games. Running back Josh Jacobs is working his way back after missing two games with toe and ankle injuries. He rushed for 40 yards on 13 carries in the loss to Los Angeles on Monday night.

The Raiders have been good with the football as far as turnovers, committing just three through four games. Unfortunately, Las Vegas has only caused three turnovers by the opposition, though it will try to see if it can rattle the Bears’ rookie signal-caller into some miscues on Sunday.

Raiders Earn Win

Las Vegas ran into a difficult matchup against Justin Herbert and the Chargers on Monday night, but the Bears shouldn’t give the Raiders as much trouble. With Fields still learning on the job and Montgomery sidelined, Chicago is going to have some trouble putting points on the board.

Carr is looking for a bounceback performance in this one, and he’ll be seeking out tight end Darren Waller (24 catches, 274 yards, two TDs) to get the ball to before the Chicago pass rush arrives. When you’re making your NFL picks, take the Raiders to win and cover at home.
