  1. Brooklyn Nets +230

At the top of the list of the teams with the best odds are the Brooklyn Nets, not so surprisingly. They have an incredible big three and filled out their bench with a ton of veterans. They also got LaMarcus Aldridge, cleared to hoop again, back in their unit. And that is huge. They missed him against the Bucks.

As long as their top guns can stay on the court, they should find that they can win the East and the title. They lost Kyrie Irving in the second game of the Bucks series, after losing James Harden for a few games after a game one injury.

And as good as he was in the playoffs, it’s hard to forget Kevin Durant missed half of the regular season. He has to be able to play more than 65-70 games if they want to ensure they finish with the home court for the duration of the postseason.

  1. Los Angeles Lakers +400

Despite only having three returning players from a year ago, the Lakers are in a great position. LeBron James-led teams have been known to have massive overhauls between seasons, as the team did prior to their title-winning 2019-20 campaign. Anthony Davis, Bron, and the re-signed Talen Horton-Tucker are the only guys coming back.

But, Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard did re-sign after taking a year on a different team. They helped bring the title here. And all they did was add new guys. The biggest name was Russell Westbrook, who they were able to get from the Wizards in exchange for three role players. He could be the missing piece.

And as for the others, among the splashy moves were Carmelo Anthony, Malik Monk, and DeAndre Jordan. This is an exciting roster, but it is built to win.

The west is going to be tough this year, but it should be the Lakers to lose—no doubt about it.

  1. Milwaukee Bucks +850

Last year’s champs open up here with the third-best odds to win the Larry OB next season. Giannis Antetokounmpo had an NBA Finals to remember, even scoring 51 in the closeout game that helped lift the team to a championship. There was nothing he didn’t do, and playing on a bad knee, he left it all on the court.

Milwaukee has improved their bench since the end of the season but also lost PJ Tucker. He was the anchor for an incredible defense, and they will miss his ability to guard top scorers on the other side. The Nets would likely have won in round two if not for PJ’s ability to make life tough on Durant.

Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton will ultimately be the factors that determine success here. How well can they play on the big stage? If they can stay locked in, anything can happen.

Other Teams Listed Near the Top

1) Golden State Warriors (+1300)

2) Utah Jazz//Phoenix Suns (+1400)

3) Philadelphia 76ers (+1800)

4) Los Angeles Clippers/Denver Nuggets (+20000)

This year, the most likely outcome is that one of the three clubs with the best odds ends up winning the title. But, anything can happen. Look for the Warriors to be a very tough out if Klay can return to form and the new rookies can play at a high level.
