It’s been a solid year for MLB rookies in both the AL and the NL. Alec Bohm and Jake Cronenworth were expected to be near the top of the ROTY list after finishing 2nd in 2020 and keeping their rookie status heading into 2021.
Instead, we get a few surprises in our top 3 in odds to win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year. This includes a pitcher and a guy that was DFA’d at the end of the 2020 season. Let’s check in on the odds to win the award according to BetOnline.

TOP #3 Sports Betting Sites to Bet on MLB
#1 Odds to Win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year | Jonathan India (-1000)
Everyone expected the Cincinnati Reds to be the second-best team in the NL Central in 2021, right? Well, that has been the case for much of the season. The Reds have MVP, ROTY, and CY Young candidates on their 2021 squad, including 2021 NL Rookie of the Year favorite, Jonathan India.
India has played 133 games at the MLB level and produced 3.6 bWAR so far. While they expected the rookie to be productive, I don’t think anyone projected that he would be a 4 WAR player in his rookie campaign.
In his 552 plate appearances, he has 127 hits, 20 home runs, 85 runs scored, 65 RBI, and stolen 9 bags. His OPS is .847 and his OPS+ is 116. Not to mention he has played an extremely solid 2nd base all season, producing 0.5 dWAR.
India looks to be a great player for a long time as he’s only 24 years old. BetOnline has India’s odds to win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year at -1000. Way ahead of the competition.
#2 Odds to Win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year | Trevor Rogers (+550)
BetOnline has Trevor Rogers coming in with the 2nd best odds to win the award. The Marlins left-hander’s odds are at +550 with a few weeks left to play.
Rogers is 7-7 with a 2.73 ERA and 3.1 bWAR in 22 starts this season. The Marlins’ pitching staff is young and stacked. Rogers wasn’t even expected to be their best rookie starter, but he has run away from the rest with his 2021 stats.
In 188.2 innings pitched, he has only allowed 36 earned runs and struck out 138 while only walking 33. His ERA+ is at a hefty 152 and his FIP is 2.71.
Dark Horse Odds to Win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year | Patrick Wisdom (+1000)
Patrick Wisdom has taken Chicago by storm in the 2021 season. After being DFA’d by the Mariners in August of last season, the Cubs grabbed him and haven’t looked back.
The Cubs re-signed Wisdom in January to a minor league contract. Since being brought up on May 25th, Wisdom has never looked back and now has the 3rd best odds to win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year at +1000.
Wisdom is slashing .236/.302/.527 on the season. His OPS is .829 and his OPS+ is 118. Wisdom can also play both corner infield positions and the outfield. He’s certainly been just what the doctor ordered for a struggling Cubs team.
If you’re going to bet on a dark horse for an MLB award, Wisdom at +1000 odds to win 2021 NL Rookie of the Year might be the longshot that you want to look at.
