Braves at Astros World Series Game 6 Betting Preview: ‘Stros Looking for the Advantage at Home
The Braves needed to at least win 2 out of 3 games at home after splitting Games 1 and 2 in Houston. Atlanta did just that, and now they head back to Houston with a 3-2 series lead. However, this is an Astros team that plays extremely well in front of their hometown fans, so this World Series is far from over.
Let’s take a look at the game preview and MLB betting odds for Game 6 of the World Series.
TOP #3 Sports Betting Sites to Bet on MLB
Betting Odds & Betting Lines
Bovada has the Astros moneyline at -128 while the Braves sit at +107. Meanwhile, BetUS has Houston at -123 and Atlanta at +113.
Braves Preview: Finish the Job
The very last thing the Braves want to do is send this series to a Game 7. While Game 6 technically is not a must-win game for them, in my opinion, it is. With a win on Tuesday night, the Astros would have a two-game winning streak and have the opportunity to win the World Series at home in Game 7.
Fortunately for Atlanta, they are sending their ace Max Friend to the hill in Game 6. However, the crafty lefty was far from brilliant in Game 2, where he lasted five innings but surrendered six earned runs. He was able to strike out six batters in the performance.
Expect manager Brian Snitker to give Fried a short leash in this one. If things start to get out of hand, he will have no issue whatsoever turning to the bullpen.
Astros Preview: Stay Hot at the Plate
While I am a huge believer that pitching wins championships, the Astros have been carried by their offense all season long. Their bats clicked in Game 5 after they saw the Braves jump out to the early 4-0 lead following the Adam Duvall grand slam as they answered with a nine-spot to earn the victory.
With RHP Luis Garcia on the mound, if the Astros are able to provide a solid amount of runs, Houston will have an excellent chance of winning this game. If Garcia can work into the fifth inning and turn it over to the bullpen with a lead, the Astros will feel very good about things.
Game 6 Players to Watch
Perhaps Carlos Correa is now locked in?
The Houston shortstop is coming off of a 3-hit performance in Game 5, which included two big RBI’s. With Correa now slotted in the three spot in the batting order and a lefty in Max Fried on the bump for the Braves, Corra might be in store for another productive night at the plate. And even if Dusty Baker rearranges the lineup, Correa has the ability to hit regardless of his spot in the order.
Austin Riley is also coming off of a 3-hit outing in Game 5 as well. The Braves’ third baseman has had a fine World Series, as he is hitting .381 in the middle of the Braves lineup. Atlanta will need him to come through with runners on base if they hope to keep pace with the high-octane Astros offense.
Prediction: Who Wins Game 6?
In all honesty, this has been an extremely strange series. Following Game 1’s dominant performance by the Braves, it looked like this was their series to lose. But then the Astros came roaring back in Game 2 and sent the series to Atlanta, all knotted up at one apiece.
And then the Braves won Games 3 and 4 and once again looked like they were on the verge of clinching the World Series victory. But the Astros refused to quit and rallied in Game 5. However, the Astros obviously can’t afford to lose any more games in this series.
This team thrives under pressure which is why my MLB betting pick is for the Houston Astros to win Game 6 of the Fall Classic and send this series to a magical Game 7. Expect Correa and the offense to put up a decent amount of runs and the Astros bullpen to shut things down late in this one.
