Even though this is only their fourth season in the FBS college football league, bookies have pretty high expectations for Liberty Flames Win Total.

Liberty Flames Win Total: Over/Under 9 Wins

Normally this would be a great place to take a look at a team’s historic success/failures to try and predict the win total, but Liberty is only in their fourth season as an FBS college football program. Hugh Freeze continues his climb back in coaching entering his third season as coach of the Flames. Liberty handled the COVID season as well as anyone, finishing one point away from an undefeated season and finishing 10-1.

The Schedule:

At Syracuse (11/24): A year ago the Flames went into the Carrier Dome and beat Syracuse by three scores. Liberty was able to work in multiple ACC games on their 2020 schedule and come out victorious in all of them except the matchup against NC State. This year the only ACC game on the schedule comes at Syracuse, so the Flames will need to make their mark when it counts.

At Ole Miss (11/6): This is the big one. Hugh Freeze was let go from the Rebels program after being charged with a lack of institutional control. Freeze had the most success a coach has seen at Ole Miss since the turn of the century and was even able to knock off Nick Saban’s Alabama teams in back to back seasons. Ole Miss has Lane Kiffin at the helm now and the offensive fire-power has returned to Oxford.

Louisiana (11/20): The Flames have a bye week between their two biggest games on the schedule. Louisiana may not be the biggest name in college football but they’re absolutely one to know this season. The Ragin’ Cajuns went 10-1 a season ago including a win over Big 12 runner-up Iowa State. Billy Napier’s team brings back almost every starter from last year’s team and starts the season ranked in the AP Poll.

The Team:

Smaller schools such as Liberty benefitted the most from the NCAA allowance for seniors to return, and the Flames have 16 seniors that are taking advantage of the additional eligibility. In total the team returns 10 of 11 starters on each side of the ball so Hugh Freeze’s squad is primed for another run at double digit wins. Malik Willis is the name to know on this team as one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the entire country.

The Bet:

Over 9 wins.

The schedule outside of the three teams mentioned above is pedestrian at best. The Flames should tear through most of the teams on their schedule like a knife through hot butter or like Malik Willis through opposing defenses. Liberty can lose the three games listed above and still push on this bet, so Betting Online that the Flames go 1-2 in those games listed seems like a safe play all around.

Other Bets:

Malik Willis Heisman Trophy Winner: The level of “special” that Willis would need to reach to win the award is daunting, but with Freeze calling the plays he’ll have ample opportunity to rack up the stats and the “wow” plays. The late season matchup against Ole Miss should give Willis a platform to firmly put his name on the map in the Heisman conversation. BetOnline has Willis’ betting odds listed at +4000 to start the season.

Liberty Moneyline at Ole Miss: The betting lines for this game haven’t been released yet on Bovada, BetUS, or BetOnline but this is a game worth watching as the season goes on. Matt Corral and Malik Willis will be in a quarterback duel backed by their offensive minded head coaches. Freeze will be pulling out all of the stops to take some revenge against his former employer. The Flames came out victorious in Blacksburg against Virginia Tech a season ago and this matchup will provide a similar test in Oxford.
