Arizona State and UCLA Meet in PAC 12 Battle
The Arizona State Sun Devils and the UCLA Bruins are meeting in a big game this weekend that could have conference championship implications. Both teams are 3-1 on the year, and both have won their sole conference game.
UCLA has been in a brawl the last two games they have played, while Arizona had an easy opponent after their loss.
Both of these teams lost in week three to very solid opponents. They are also both looking to create a little momentum as they get into conference play now.
Arizona fell to #23 BYU two weeks ago, and they struggled to move the football in that game. UCLA lost to Fresno State 40-37 and just could not stop Fresno State on the defensive side of the ball.
UCLA has really struggled on defense this year, while Arizona State has flourished offensively. Look for this one to be a shootout if UCLA can move the ball down the field.

Sun Devils Look to Run the Ball
Arizona State has shown a potent offensive attack this year, scoring 32.5 points a game. They average 437 yards a contest, and 210 of that comes on the ground each game. It’s a group effort as their lead back only has 256 yards with six touchdowns on the season. They face their stiffest run defense yet this weekend in UCLA.
UCLA only allows 64 yards per game on the ground, but that is a little in part to the teams they have played thus far. It also shows the fact that the Bruins are very susceptible to the pass. UCLA allows 330.3 yards passing per game which is a big reason that their run defense is so good — everyone just throws the ball.
Bruins Need to Stop the Pass
UCLA should be able to stop the run, but the pass is another story. They have really struggled as teams have aired it out this year, and Arizona State is not going to be afraid to throw it. They are allowing close to 400 yards a game, and for that reason, they have the ability to get into shootouts with teams.
I would anticipate that the Bruins look hard at stopping the pass this week and try to make Arizona State throw the ball more through the air. UCLA will need a big game from their defensive backs if they look to win this battle.
