Notre Dame +6.5 vs. Wisconsin

Notre Dame and Wisconsin square off at noon in what should be one of the most intriguing games of the weekend in college football. And it is a prime upset candidate, as Notre Dame is the underdog per the betting odds for this contest. According to BetUS, the Fighting Irish are 6.5-point underdogs, which seems steep given the issues with the Wisconsin offense that have flared up at inopportune times so far this year.

In their season opener against Penn State, Wisconsin was held to just 10 points at home. In that contest, they squandered multiple opportunities to score deep in Penn State territory, which ended up costing them that game outright. Notre Dame’s offense can move the ball, while we don’t know for sure that Wisconsin’s can do the same, making this a great look for a potential upset.

Also working in Notre Dame’s favor is the location for this contest. This game is being played at Soldier Field in Chicago rather than at the home field for either team. The Midwest is a huge hotbed for Notre Dame fandom, and their fans should outnumber Wisconsin fans for this game, which will help propel the Irish to success.

Arkansas +5 vs. Texas A&M

In the SEC this week, Texas A&M and Arkansas play at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. And while the game is being held in Texas, that venue does hold some significance to Arkansas as well, as Arkansas alum Jerry Jones owns the Cowboys. In this SEC showdown at AT&T Stadium, the latest NCAAF odds have Arkansas as a five-point underdog, a number they could cover with ease.

So far this season, Arkansas has already passed one big test against a top-tier college football program from Texas. They beat the Texas Longhorns by three possessions at home, rudely welcoming the Longhorns to their future conference in the SEC. And while Texas isn’t quite on the level of A&M this year, Arkansas will be feeling confident that they can pull off an upset victory based on that performance.

The Aggies, by the way, will be using a backup quarterback for this game, thanks to the injury sustained by Haynes King earlier this season. Zach Calzada will get the start for the Aggies, who has been serviceable for Jimbo Fisher’s team thus far. But Calzada has yet to step into a game of this magnitude in his career, and Arkansas could take advantage of that in a big way.

Georgia Tech +12.5 vs. North Carolina

The final upset candidate worth looking at in this weekend of college football betting is a team that had the attention of every sportsbook last week in Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets nearly knocked off the Clemson Tigers last week, holding Dabo Swinney’s team to just 14 points in a defensive battle in the ACC. The defense might be tougher to come by against Sam Howell and North Carolina, but Georgia Tech has proven it can hang with the best.

So far this season, no team has scored more than 22 points on the Yellow Jackets’ defense, including the mighty Clemson Tigers. If North Carolina is going to do so, it will take the best effort of the season from Howell, who has turned the ball over more than expected this year. The Tar Heels were upset to start the season by Virginia Tech, and there is certainly potential for another upset here.
